I have bought several old items for M3 (just because they looked interesting, and I do own M3 as well). Now I realzend that they are Poser stuff, no mention of Studio at all, just Poser and the bridges. Do these old Poser clothing items work in DAZStudio?


Absolutely. The software compatibility for older Poser stuff has been neglected since the store was updated almost a year ago. They are in Poser format, and work just fine in DAZ Studio. Of course, there is usually no metadata to speak of, so no Smart Content. There are some that have .pmd's for morphs and .mt5 material presets that will not work in Studio.


Poser content normally has figures, clothes and other poseable stuff under Figures and static props under Props but this isn't a hard and fast rule. The Pose section often contains a lot of material settings that are done as pose files. The Materials section was a later additiion to Poser and not all Poser materials work in Daz Studio. If they don't work, or if Studio just shows an empty folder in Materials then look for an alternative in Pose, a lot of Poser content has both.


Been seeing a lot of cool stuff in the shop. But, I want to know how do you make this yourself? I have some experience modeling in Blender. I don't know if these programs work together or not but is there some feature in DAZ that allows you to design your own models, props, clothing, jewelry, and whatever?


I'm hoping someone can give me a solution or a few hints. I have a ton of content, mainly older V4 stuff, that shows up in Content Manager but not in the Smart Content pane. From nosing around, I'm guessing there isn't metadata for it, or whatever is needed to get Daz Studio to categorize it into the Smart Content pane. I rarely use Content Manager and tend to rely upon the Smart Content pane. So... Is there a way to get these items (things like Technophilia come to mind) to actually show up in Smart Content?


EXAMPLE: "Genesis Stuff I Did" is the name of the folder. Now create a new folder inside called Runtime. And inside Runtime create the folders you need. Geometries, Libraries, Textures. Then inside Libraries create the rest. Chrarcter, Props, Pose. So now you can put you new Genesis stuff in Chararter or Props.


Well, you could always reinstall stuff as you needed it/came across a missing icon rather than doing all at once (might give you an interesting perspective on which things most interest you, he says in his best "Always look on the bright side of life" mode).


It might also remind me of stuff that I have forgotten that I bought over those 15 years (I have been know to try to buy things a second time). Nonetheless, half a TB of content (and I bet that's a pretty low figure compared to many here) would be a daunting task.

By this I take you mean some of the stuff that's out there for free?
From what I can tell the stuff on paid sites is designed to allow the sale of the 2d product in all cases.
Or are do some of the products for sale here at Daz fall into this weird greyish area you speak of?





A cut scene would be ok as it is a render
you can also do 2D or sprite based games as they use renders and stuff using vector graphics
some of these almost can look 3D due to renders from multiple angles, I have looked at Game salad and others myself but the event scripting, logic stuff too hard for my tiny brain. :snake:
it is the use of polygonal mesh that requires the game license and must also be cooked into the game.


Edit: In response to the question of what happened to me I'm still around, I'm just not frequently on the forum. My time spent in Daz Studio is only in service of the Iclone stuff that I'm working on.
