As highlighted by us in September last year, then Romanians have unwittingly formed a new blend of dance music, blending minimal techno & groove laden deep house, sewn up and exported to some of the clubbing world's hottest cities. Djs Rhadoo, Raresh and many more have helped to define a new sound amongst an overly-familiar genre - including hot export Priku. This Romanian musician and DJ shares a special 2 hour live mix with MEOKO, recorded at Bucharest's Snrs48 party, in turn delivering a live and unedited snapshot of his driving, deep and at times, subtle sound. A dynamic mix - playing with the space between notes and veering into minimal, atmospheric tapestries - Priku's focus on nuances in sound, percussive elements and thick slabs of bass running throughout shall take the MEOKO listener on a far flung, left of centre journey into a lesser known aesthetic. Here we have it... An extra special live set from two of the most sought after talents in the scene right now. We present to you an incredible journey from the intimate settings of BRET, Amsterdam, VBX's main home, the after party venue that everyone seems to be talking about. This time around the dutch crew VBX teamed up with Fuse for a extended afterhours event at VBX's infamous homebase BRET, as part of the huge annual Amsterdam Dance Event. The signature sound from the London based label, and eclectic beats from the VBX artists helped this party see its way deep in to the Saturday afternoon. A combination of parties that is always sure to go down a treat. Who better to set the tone, early doors, than Fuse heavyweights Rossko and Archie Hamilton, known for their ability to control the dance floor with the special chemistry between the two of them. After several years of holding down Fuse residencies in London, and around the world, their much loved and infectious sound, is captured within this live cut you are about to experience. A journey, driven by deep bass heavy records delivering the wake up call an afters like this desires, with an up for it crowd from start to finish. It seemed fitting to feature these two artists at such a relevant time, as they start their new Arkityp project, and continue to make their stance in the world of music. Expect it to be magical, an incredible selection of records, and an after party vibe that can't be compared to many others around the globe. It doesn't get much better than this; Enjoy.

A relatively new name, with his first release exciting our ears just one year ago, East End Dubs has gone onto produce some of the best and most underrated underground tech-house music of the year. The London based producer mixes no.075 of the MEOKO mix series, filling it with his signature sound. It is dark broody house music, full of low-slung percussive groove, haunting synths, and sub-bass funk. Preferring real analogue synth to many of today’s lazy sampling and plug-in presets, his production quality is there for all to hear, which is why his tracks have become so revered at parties like Fuse in London and DC10 in Ibiza. Now signed to Matthias Tanzmann's Moon Harbour label, East End Dubs stocks seem to be going up and up...

Albui starts his performance straight away: “We have this song, this song is for young people!” The ball is opened with a single will, to dance until the sun shines bright. In a diffuse bar or concert hall atmosphere that gets empty, we are immediately seized by a subtle and detailed groove whose intensity goes crescendo. We witness powerful spatial sequences, the thread of a sharp and linear selection. The particular flavour of Romanian Techno is distilled through a spiral storytelling and does not weaken for a single second.The creepy universes confront each other, a demonic laughter from time to time or short incisive phrases whose meaning is uncertain. Hypnotic pads in the background keep the audience trapped in a trance, accentuated by passages with tribal sounds and grooves.

    With an energetic start to the set, Albui also knows how to take short pauses in his narrative in favour of light and fundamentally beautiful moments, or couple of breaks that build a controlled tension. The coherence of the selection is excellent and teleports the listener into a surreal universe where time and space merge. The second half of the performance is marked by some groovier and more positive tracks, angelic choir and cinematographic colour. The end of the journey is predicted with a track called “Zen” (from an artist whose name will be kept secret here), just to give you an idea of the vibe.

    Thus Albui’s set embodies the perfect transition between a beautiful rave night and sunrise. With a remarkable dynamic mix and a captivating story, good luck to stop dancing!

On this Live Moments episode, we bring you a part of the latest Ogenblik event recorded at the infamous StarLane Pizza Bar spot with London's finest ambassadors Matteo Manzini (want?) and Ogenblik's head-honcho TImoti. It's a pity that no one could dance the way they wanted - as this was one of their many distanced events - because the music was nothing but brilliant: here, 2+ hours (part of an extended session) full of twisted sounds and bouncy grooves provided with class and elegance.

Time has come for the last podcast of 2020 which comes from one of the hottest names in the Romanian scene: Vlad Arapasu. With many releases on top-notch labels such as Priku's Atipic, Subtil, Serialism, EASTENDERZ, and Unic to name a few, the Bucharest talent worked his way up by providing a peculiar melodic-oriented style, always sustained by unwavering trust in gloomy sub-basslines, intricated grooves, and twisted synths. A trademark sound that he's been able to convey into his label KONTENT, which hosted young promises of the rominimal panorama such as Macarie and Leanca, proving Vlad's ability to give the right exposure to other fellow-talented producers.
