Vista Points (2009) - All materials used in Vista Points are derived from electric guitar sounds. Often the electric guitar sounds are left raw and layered with processed materials. When these sounds interact there are points of causality, conflict and turbulence. This work also explores the varying distances between soinc events and contrasts between pressured and coluntary behavours to achieve moments of activity and emptiness.

Most of the sound material for this composition originates from a broken guitar I have. I wanted to explore the notion of explicit sound objects which, over time, become pushed into remote surrogacy. I was especially interested in using sounds with short a spectromorphological life and extending these sounds over time into larger structures.

Kinesis is an exploration of the sonic characteristics of spinning objects, both embracing and subverting the processes in which the objects naturally follow. All of the sounds in this piece are derived from the stimulus of an object and the subsequent movement that this produces (the spinning of a coin, a bicycle wheel, motors and the ringing of Tibetan singing bowls), exploring the tensions between the gestural characteristic of the stimulus and the timbral quality of the movement that follows.
