Vluarr - Higher (MADZI Remix)

My remix contest submission of @jayeskar's 'Face 2 Face' featuring Justin J. Moore.

After listening to the original I was captivated by the overall vibe and theme. The chord progression with its dark phrygian-like twist on the third chord alongside Justin's delivery of the lyrics really hammered an idea of the kind of tone switch I wanted to convey with this track. 

Since I knew from the get go I wanted this remix to be a result of many tracks that inspired me in the first place (listed below), I opted for a standard drum & bass tempo of 174 which really helped allow me to slow a lot of the core stems down and really put an emphasis on that more sinister and mysterious reimagining of this track that I was going for by prolonging the drop and introducing new elements bit by bit. I knew I wanted this track to be gritty and have a lot of dirt to it all while remaining fundamentally simple in nature which I think goes hand in hand with what Jay expressed in his breakdown of Face 2 Face on YouTube about the original being simple and I think it turned out really nicely and helped me come to understand that sometimes less is more.

Overall I had a ton of fun working on this remix and I hope you enjoyed it!
