"I'm Hahmahlehch Hahmahveht" is a Gilbert and Sullivan parody from "Love and Idols/A Jewish Opera," adapted from the dramatic poem, "All in Good Time" by Matthew Paris.  This is a demo recording made in 1986 by Western Wind baritone Elliot Z. Levine and pianist Nicholas Underhill.

I'm Hahmahlehch Hahmahveht

"The Love of Therese du Meun" is from the song cycle, "Love Poems from the Hebrew," commissioned by Eve Roshevsky. The text is Sonnet VIII, "reconstructed" by Hebrew poet Leah Goldberg, here translated by Abraham Birman. The work was premiered by Ms. Roshevsky in 1987 at a Josquin Cage concert at Greenwich House Hayden Auditorium, Nicholas Underhill on piano.

The Love of Therese Du Meun

Written for a private wedding in 1994, this is a live recording of the opening of "Prelude a l'apres-midi Noces" (Prelude to a Mid-Afternoon Wedding), the appearance of the wedding party (and the bride).  The a cappella quartet is Cynthia Richards Wallace, Jennifer Lane, James Bassi, and Gregory Purnhagen.

Prelude a l'apres-midi Noces

Originally composed as the epilogue to "Love and Idols/A Jewish Opera" (with piano), this is the a cappella choral version, performed in 1994 at a private wedding by Cynthia Richards Wallace, Jennifer Lane, James Bassi, and Gregory Purnhagen. It is, by definition, non-liturgical, because the prayer, written by Mar, son of Rabina, is only said silently by individuals at the end of Shemoneh Esrei and never said aloud at the repetition.

Amidah

This is an excerpt from an uncompleted oratorio, "Yisroayl B'Mitzroyim" (Israel in Egypt).  The demo recording is a reading by the Gregg Smith Singers, Gregg Smith, conducting, at The Interchurch Center in NYC in 1999.

Written for a private wedding in 1994, this is a live recording of soprano Cynthia Richards Wallace, singing a cappella in Hebrew.  The text is attributed to King Solomon and comprises VI:3 and V:10-16 from Song of Songs.
