My first go at making music without a computer. Timing and tuning have gone out the window, and tape hiss has taken over.

Tape hiss taken to the next level, trying to find ways to make the OP-1 sound a bit more warped, and less clean & digital.

Just two channels of Juno, with a bunch of delay and spring reverb. Playing without Quantize or MIDI means the timing is a bit off, but I kinda like it.

My first track with a new Eurorack modular synth that I started putting together last week. I was worried it was going to take a while to get something out of it, but I'm already in love.

My Juno is playing the melody, which adjusts the pitch of the bassline played by the modular, synced to an LFO. The same LFO is triggering the MFB Nanozwerg, which is playing a white-noise hi hat. The tune is played by the OP-1 endless sequencer, but things go a little out of time because the LFO wasn't synced to the OP-1.

Recorded on January 30th 2015.

I tried to build up a bit of a arpeggio type thing. I played the Juno, which then triggered the modular for bass and a detuned and delayed Nanozwerg for the higher notes. Messing with delay time and tape speed is fun.

This is the first go at using a new Doepfer ADSR. It helped clean things up a bit, but the unfiltered VCO feels a bit overwhelming.

Recorded on January 31st 2015.

I got a better feel for using the Doepfer ADSR, and used it to create a kick drum kinda thing. Unfortunately the tape distorted it a bit too much, leaving it sounding more like a weird bassline.

A modulated Nanozwerg was run through delay to create a panning arpeggio thing. Everything triggered from an OP-1 sequence (the same as Tascam #6, just played faster).

Recorded on February 8th 2015.

My friend @kohwi came over and plugged everything together and made it feedback into itself.

OP-1 playing a four note sequence, played by the Modular (both bass and melody), with the MFB 552 playing drums in sync. White noise from the Nanozwerg, and drums and modular being sent to DD-6 delay and Vermona Retroverb (doing some cool LFO trigger stuff). Everything recorded in one take to Tascam 4-Track cassette recorded.

Tascam #9 (w/ Kohwi)

Recorded on February 15th 2015.

Drone lyfe. First time playing around with a Make Noise Phonogene. Guitar looped by the DD-6, and recorded into the  Phonogene, which is playing it back at different speeds and intervals, modulated by LFOs. The Phonogene triggers the Nanozwerg playing white noise hi hats. Plus MFB filtered drones and spring reverb.

Here's something I worked on a few weeks ago. I uploaded this sketch to SoundCloud and then my Laptop got stolen, taking the project files with it. Seeing as I can't edit / mix this anymore, I figured I might as well just share it.

It's mostly a live take, with the modular, MFB drum machine, and Juno.

Live take with the modular and a drum machine, interrupted by interface failing(hence the abrupt stop).

I was digging through my archives and realized this never got uploaded to SoundCloud.

It's last track from Tourist/Sleeper, which didn't fit on the vinyl release, and somehow got turned into an iTunes exclusive (which means most people probably haven't heard it).
