"The Ballad of Lucy Jordan" is a song by American poet and songwriter Shel Silverstein. It was originally recorded by Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show and also by the English singer Marianne Faithfull. Faithfull said that the story she intended to put across in it was that Lucy climbs to the rooftop but gets taken away by "the man who reached and offered her his hand" in an ambulance ("long white car") to a mental hospital, and that the final lines ("At the age of thirty-seven she knew she'd found forever / As she rode along through Paris with the warm wind in her hair ...") are actually in her imagination at the hospital. "Landslide" is a song written by Stevie Nicks and performed by British-American music group Fleetwood Mac. It was first featured on the band's 1975 eponymous album Fleetwood Mac. Along with "Rhiannon", it would be Nicks' first original contribution to the band upon joining. A live version was released as a single 23 years later from the live reunion album The Dance. This version reached #51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and #10 on the Adult Contemporary chart. "Landslide" was certified Gold in October 2009 for sales of over 500,000 copies in the U.S. According to fleetwoodmacnews.com, "Landslide" has sold 1,315,950 copies in the U.S. as of February 2013.

Tom Jans (February 9, 1948 – March 25, 1984) was a folk musician from San Jose, California. He is perhaps best known for his song "Loving Arms" (also known as "Lovin' Arms"), which has been performed and recorded by dozens of artists and bands, initially by Kris Kristofferson & Rita Coolidge, and later by Dobie Gray, Elvis Presley, Dixie Chicks, Natalie Cole, Olivia Newton-John, Petula Clark, Jon English, Livingston Taylor, Etta James, Millie Jackson, Jody Miller, The Beautiful South and The Cats, among many others.

"The Last Song" is the second single from Elton John's 1992 album, The One. It was composed by John, with lyrics provided by Bernie Taupin.

"The Last Song" marked the first of John's American singles to benefit his AIDS foundation. Taupin faxed the lyrics to him in Paris, shortly after Freddie Mercury died. "I was crying all the time as I wrote the music", John told The Advocate, "and it was very hard for me to sing it". The song tells of an estranged father coming to terms with the sexuality of his gay son, who is dying of an AIDS-related illness. Originally titled "Song for 1992", it was renamed to avoid dating it."[1]

The song was used during a closing montage featuring people who died of AIDS at the end of the 1993 film And the Band Played On.

Gus Van Sant was not the first choice to direct the video. David Hockney and Madonna declined the offer.

The song notably caused a fit of emotion from Howard Stern Show producer Gary Dell'Abate in November 2007. According to him, the song's music video reminds him of his brother, who died of AIDS[citation needed] by the time The One was released.
