This is a small sample of a fugue written with the tin whistle in mind, but playable on violin, concert flute, recorder, and other instruments of a similar range.

Excerpt from "Lord of the Fountains' Fugue"

The instrumentation is the stock nylon guitar sound that comes with the composition program I use, so the piece does sound a lot better played by a human. I'm working on getting an actual, decent human recording. If you'd like to perform/record it, let me know! It's written for four guitars, but eventually I'll transcribe a 2-guitar version. In the meantime, here's what I have. It's the first rondo I've written. It's named after my brother. The form is basically ABACABA. The C section is atonal -- which I'm guessing is unusual to have in the middle of a tonal piece, especially one that's fairly Baroque-sounding, but it was fun to write in, and I think it works -- at least for me!

Nicholas's Rondo

This passacaglia, named after someone very dear to me, is my first and has mostly ground bass. I've been told that there are spots that feel like too-long pauses -- please let me know if you think they should be shorter; I think it's two spots where notes are held for two measures. I'll hopefully have a human recording of it sometime this year -- using classical guitar -- but for now, here it is with the Finale harp sound.

Quail's Passacaglia

A piece based on Odysseus and Calypso. Each melody represents an aspect of their story. For example, one melody represents the incessant waves reminding Odysseus that nothing changes on the island, that the world is moving on without him, that his wife and child are far away and getting older. Another melody represents his bliss on the island as his family and home are forgotten. Another melody represents his pining for Ithaca, his desire to return home to his responsibilities and the family he hasn't seen in many years. And so on. Forgive me for the audio quality! I'm working on getting a human recording of it.
