"Walker & Royce" started when Sam and Gavin, having known each other in and out of the dance scene for years, finally began working together in 2011. As things usually go, it was a bit of luck that got them off the ground: Crosstown Rebels boss Damian Lazarus noticed one of their very first releases. The result was the Crosstown Rebels EP "You're Not Welcome" and with that, Walker & Royce was launched into the dance music mainstream.

'Let Me Be' was initially meant as a remix but it actually sounded in no way like the original, so the guys thankfully got the green light to release it as their own track. Also featured on the track is Javi, New York City born recording artist and vocalist, who already collaborated with an impressive list of musicians, setting the bar very high for for himself.

Two years since his smash ‘Mortem EP’ on Sounds of Sumo back in 2014, we had to get Florida DJ/producer Mark Starr back on the label for a follow up. The dirtybird player packs just as much punch with his latest effort - the ‘Ten Thirty One EP’ which features four tracks purpose built for the club by perfectly blending together bass, breaks and house (including a stunning collaboration with fellow dirtybird and This Ain't Bristol producer Lux Groove). Remixing title track ‘1031’ is friend of the label and Brum bass veteran Marc Spence who reworked ‘Mortem’ with Pete Graham last time round - for those who remember that one, this one’s just as heavy!

2016 has been a stand-out year of releases on Dirtybird, including the launch of both our sister label Dirtybird Select, as well our subscription service, the Birdfeed. But the year isn’t over just yet, and it’s not in our nature to just sit on the bench and ride it out, especially as we’ll be ringing in 2017 on a weekend. So we decided to double-down on our end of year special, and present 10 brand new originals to end the year with a bang. 

Featuring nearly a dozen artists across an array of genres, the second volume of “The New Years Special” includes Dirtybird staples Walker & Royce & Sage Armstrong, newest members of the family Dateless, Sirus Hood and Ciszak, and household names Roland Clark & Weiss. 

It wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t debut a few new artists as well, so we added some breakthrough tracks from future talents Egopool, 6ftshort, Slow Jam and Elevator Music.
