Thus, even a story of love, friendship or family is always a striving towards understanding, a constant seeking of honesty amidst the untold, a faithful yearning for connection against all odds.

Dunya is the creative partnership between Georgian artist FH HF and Tunisian artist Anasisana. 'Pay It Forward', the result of a long-distance collaborative effort, is an 8-piece album fusing the differing techniques of the two creators. Translating into 'Life' from Arabic, Dunya invites the listener to a communion, a connection to the senses.

During apocalyptic times and torments caused by pandemic, the necessity to hear and make music is growing. Etang Brulant asked several artists and friends to send some material. Due to a high participation, we decided to split the Various in two parts.

It's a beautiful thing to hear what's hiding in each and everyone heart, from all around the world.

Here is the first chapter of the Etang Brulant project "Live Today, Die Tomorrow", a musical compilation focusing on producing music knowing our world can end. "Live Today," is mixing ambient territories, gentle atmospheres or experimental practices, melting hopes and fears into a golden window we all look forward to.

Because of the situation we are all facing, we decided to give all the money raised to a french charity called 'Secours Populaire Français', dedicated to fighting poverty and discrimination in public life.

For our latest release we are excited to be bringing you this unusual beauty from London, Ontario based duo Wormwood, which is the electro-acoustic duo of Christina Willatt and Andrew Wenaus. As they say about their album…

“Much of the work for My Two Minds Become Air was written and recorded to accompany dance, and are in the form of vignettes. There is a special emphasis on movement, kinetics, orientation, and spatiality. Alongside movement through space, we wanted to conjure the massive expansiveness of the world outside ourselves at the same time as the seemingly infinite space of inward imagination. How might sound be a way of experiencing the ways that the imagination, the material, and the virtual each move through, intersect with, tangle and knot each other in delightful ways? In a way, we wanted to make music that acknowledges the ubiquitous supermodern abstraction of everyday life in the twenty first century.”

Elif Yalvaç - Brocken Spectre

It was back in February 2012 that Michel contacted me to say he had sent me an mp3 "with a funny melody". "I am just wondering if you can play that. Exactly with the same tuning", he said. I had a listen and thought "You must be joking", as what I was presented with appeared to have no fixed notes nor conventional tuning, and sounded almost impossible to play. (I learnt later that the synthesized tune he had sent me was a melodic tracking - via software - of the musical pitches inherent in the voice of a man talking, recorded in Ghana by his friend Mark Dingemanse from the Radboud University). I put the strange sounding melody on repeat so that I could listen to it again and again, and by playing along continuously with it I eventually found the required notes on the trombone. After a week I could play the whole thing. And that was 2012. More recently, I found myself thinking, "Whatever happened to that tune". I had done a lot of work on it, and it seemed to have disappeared with no resulting composition appearing. So, I searched through my archives, found mine and Michel's original recordings, and played around with them until I had the beginnings of something coherent. At this point I contacted Michel, and he performed his usual magic, and eight years later we have our composition! Over the years Michel and I have occasionally swapped musical ideas, and our 'B-side' is the result of another such exchange, from a recording a year earlier. This is an excerpt from one of the four longform tracks on this album, all of which are distinct excursions into a personal landscape of organic and broken melodic meanderings…the slapping spokes of a bicycle ridden through the tall grass, the swish of the walking stick, the buzz of the fly on the manure and the mysteriously subtle drone like chattering and burbling of the deepest countryside. Plaintive…melancholic…beatific…this is the loveliest of soundtracks to a simple life well lived away from the maddening crowd, and without regret.
