For those not in the know, there are few producers that can straddle the line between the old and new schools as well as DJ Mxnic. 

A titan of the early bassline scene, DJ Mxnic (formerly ‘Manic’), honed his craft in bassline’s ancestral home, and made a name for himself with instant classics such as ‘I Won’t Forget’ and a colossal flip of Browza’s ‘0114’. 

Fast forward to bassline’s current revival and it appears DJ Mxnic hasn’t lost a step.

‘Rage’ is a richly textured barn burner with astonishingly tight production and attentive stereo work. From the dramatic, vocal-led introduction to the punishingly heavy sub and LFO work at the drop, Mxnic manages to incorporate the best sensibilities from both old and new schools, uniting both worlds to show that yes, it’s indeed possible to rep your roots whilst recognising the strides made in arrangement and production techniques since the scene began.  

With its standard setting production value and crushingly heavy drops, it’s easy to see why the Sheffield native is once again all the rage.
