Solo improvisation for (sampled) metallophone or something, exploring a pentatonic scale (mode 25252 of 16edo).  Recorded with Reaper, Axis-49 and Xenfont.  Sort of gamelan-inspired (although actual gamelan music isn't generally made with a computer, or in this sort of tuning, or even solo as far as i know :> )

Sean Archibald & Bristletone - Solid Smoke

A short demonstration of a comma pump in Orwell temperament, tuned to 53-EDO.  A comma pump is a chord progression which modulates by a particular comma (small interval).  The comma here is 1728/1715, the Orwellisma, which represents the difference between a stack of three 7/6's (septimal subminor thirds) and one 8/5 (pental minor sixth).  Since the Orwellisma is "tempered out" in Orwell temperament, a 1728/1715 comma pump in Orwell does not modulate.  The progression starts out ascending by subminor thirds and finishes by moving up by a major third.  There's also a variation in which each move by 7/6 is made in two steps: first a move by 7/4 upward (actually 8/7 downward), and then a move by 4/3 upward, that is, up by a perfect fourth.  This gives somewhat the effect of secondary V chords.  There's also a variation which changes the order of the chords and introduces root movement by 11/8.  This section includes some 11-limit harmony to reveal the common tones between the chords.  Enjoy!
