When record store owner Jeff Bubeck buys an old record collection out of an abandoned storage unit, he has no idea what he’s stumbled across. Jeff learns the collection once belonged to the late great J Dilla, one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time. Along with the thousands of LP’s from Dilla’s personal collection, there is something else that is uncovered, something huge. . .

Brooklyn's skilled, genre defying hip hop producer Vincent Williams aka DJ Spinna is an incredible DJ. We are honored to have him over for the next mix in the store series. 
The avid record collector usually visits record stores for hours and hours to make sure he doesn't leave anything untouched. This also happens today... During this afternoon and evening we've touched and shared a broad spectrum of releases. This mix includes 25 of his picks!

DJ Spinna began experimenting with turntables at age 11 and began his recording career in 1994 as a member of the the underground hip hop group Jigmastas. Throughout his career he has broken down musical barriers between the worlds of hip hop, house, soul and jazz working with everyone from Mos Def, Masta Ace, Pharoahe Monch and Eminem, to Eric Roberson, N'dea Davenport, and Mary Mary to Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers and Sergio Mendes.

8 Miles To Moenart has literally brought Tall Black Guy full circle. Detroit was where he
started making music, and it’s to his hometown he returns to draw inspiration for his
debut album. Taking in low-slung hip hop, downtempo house and jazz-tinged street soul,
it’s a record of rare focus. Largely instrumental, he’s also added some choice collabs
with Ozay Moore (formerly known as Othello) and Diggs Duke, bringing their own
unique styles to the melting pot. This record encapsulates the musical heritage
of Detroit, through the looking glass of Tall Black Guy's own signature sound.
