Song 3 for February Album Writing Month.

This is a love song, plain and simple. I know, this has been beaten to death over the years, and many images have been painted to the point where they've become cliches. But I wanted to think back on when I fell in love again. There's a lot of uncertainty. Does this person feel the same way I do? What do I say? How do I say it? What will they think? This song addresses the battle that wages whenever you fall for someone, with all the nervousness and wonder that comes with it.

NOTE: I say "jester" instead of "gesture." Oops...

This one came from a prompt on Reddit (and I'll be damned if I can find the prompt again on the internet). The challenge was to write a song that's only sixteen bars long. So I did. And it's a somber little tune.

Here's song number Two (or Too?) in the February Album Writing Month 2020 challenge.

This one came together fairly quickly. If you've gone through a rough breakup, whether it be one-sided or mutual, you can't help but think of what the other person is doing/thinking/feeling. You only know how you feel, and sometimes that's the worst thing. The emptiness only exacerbates the situation. It's not easy. But that's where this song comes from.

It Haunts Me, Too

Here's track number Three for February Album Writing Month 2020.

For this one, I took another definition of dog days (per Merriam-Webster: a period of stagnation or inactivity) and took the lyrics from there. It turned out to be more of a self-reflection. That period of stagnation stirred up from a mentally unhealthy time. Which seems to be where a lot of my songs come from lately.

Some people who suffer from anxiety or depression may know what those dog days feel like... This one encompasses mine, at least.
