Party people, superfriends, podcasters and back-to-back buddies: This ain't the first time DJ heavyweights Oliver Koletzki and andhim join forces. However, "Branka", the second sneak-peak of Oliver's forthcoming "Trip to Sanity" album, marks the maiden studio collaboration between the three veterans of the field. Needless to say, the result is set to blow up dance floors around the globe: While the title track "Branka" pairs a chugging groove with a climax of melancholic piano chords and flute flurries to hands-up effect, "Orbit" is more deranged with its thumping kicks, old-school rave harmonies and crunchy snare rolls. Perfectly balancing the tension between tasteful restraint and all-out euphoria, these two club tracks equally satisfy and leave us wanting more – luckily Koletzki has us covered with "Trip to Sanity".

Italian renegade Cioz is welcomed to Get Physical with two terrific new tracks that showcase his rich style. 

Cioz is utterly self-taught so never adheres to any rules. This lends his music an unpredictable and original quality that has led to artists like Super Flu, Andhim and Solomun all supporting him in the past. Cioz has also founded Knobs Bergamo; a community-based creative hub in Bergamo (Italy) where artists unite, collaborate, develop ideas and create. Following on from outings on the likes of Monaberry and Einmusika he now comes correct on the German giant, Get Physical Music. 

Majestic opener ‘Lucky Shot’ is an epic eight-minute journey into deep, rubbery drums and brilliantly loose and expressive synth lines. They do real gymnastics over the course of the track, with smeared pads, more dynamic chords and soul infused lines bringing plenty of warmth and colour to this groovy number. The careful addition of some female vocal sounds help elevate it yet further and will surely win the hearts of dancers everywhere. 

The supple ‘Cookie Man’ is another absorbing, deep and atmospheric house track with cleverly interwoven rhythmic and musical layers. The drums sashay about and get your hips moving, the lead synth is a curious one that makes the mind wander and the whole thing exudes real colour and soul to make it an immediately loveable track. 

These are two tasteful and characterful tunes from an ever more essential talent.

German duo Monkey Safari make a rare step away from their own
Hommage label for a vital debut on Get Physical Music.

For the best part of the last decade now, Lars Rühlemann and Sven Fröhlich AKA Monkey Safari have been serving up a quirky and curious take on house music that has brought real character to the dance floor. They have put out three absorbing full lengths as well as almost thirty EPs, and have made their Hommage label a vital one in the process.

Here they open their account with the excellent ‘Mantra,’ a propulsive house track with humid, jungle-like atmospheres, woodblock hits and elastic bass that really builds the pressure. It’s a warm and absorbing affair brimming with charm.

The perfectly hypnotic ‘Tollo’ then establishes another enchanting groove, this time with spoken word vocals intoxicating you further as the rubbery drums and soft, fat hits get you deeper into the groove.

This is perfect late night dance music for intimate parties and escapist
experiences.
