Pretty straightforward track, all in 4/4, something of a rarity. Juxtaposed a triplet idea over the main theme in the B section for a little fun. No one should wait this long in between writing music.

Pretty straightforward track, drop D tuning, capo at 1st fret. Trying to write bigger riffs instead of more technical things. Named for the biggest nuclear weapon ever detonated.

New project. Limiting myself to three tracks per song, just a drum/bass/guitar power trio. No loops/overdubs.

Canadian Tuxedo

Fun track, combining disparate influences here, one section being influenced a good deal by Malian guitar music, another by black metal. Whatever works, I reckon. Still limiting to just 3 tracks, drum, bass, guitar, with an eye for being performable.

Truck Boat Truck

Originally had different plans for the riff at the end, but I bent it into this song and am pretty pleased with the new incarnation. Main riffs are in 4/4 and bridge is in 6/8.




Trash Man

Fun track using a prepared guitar trick I picked up from one of my home town heroes in Asheville that makes the guitar sound very much like it is part of a Gamelan. Pretty standard all in 4/4 but there are some asymmetrical riffs and pelog sounding lines to lend to the Gamelan-meets-garage band vibe I tried capturing. 

No Flip

This song is named for a company in Bangladesh that employs children for the task of ship-breaking, one of the most dangerous and demanding jobs in the world. Despite people being killed every month by explosions and/or falling metal, or in the long-run by exposure to asbestos, lead, mercury, etc. despite the environmental degradation that takes place, despite the workers having no safety gear and a salary of often less than a dollar a day, the company is named PHP, peace, happiness, and prosperity.  http://www.phpgroupbd.com/inner_static/scrap.php

A tune with a bit of a lighter history. Also, I feel like this track is still missing something, so any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Saturnalia

Named for the Mesoamerican ballgame we all know a tiny bit about, the one with the stone courts, nine pound ball, and of course, ritual sacrifices. I felt this track had a kind of playful, game-like feel, so, I named it after a game. Don't ask me how to pronounce it. My guess is something like O-la-malitz-li. 

Ollamaliztli

Instrumental beat built off of samples of an ancient Asian instrument, the Sheng/Khaen/Mouth Organ. Very amazing instrument, sometimes sounds like bagpipes, sometimes sounds like strings, always sounds rich and complex.

Khaen

Hello, I try to make fun music. My main instrument is the guitar. I try to make things interesting by utilizing a variety of techniques, such as hybrid picking, open strings, tapping, whammy bar manipulation, lots of hammers and pulls, and others. In terms of structure, I enjoy trying to write in odd time signatures. Melodically, I enjoy pentatonics and other scales utilizing large melodic leaps. I also enjoy trying to write harmony lines.
