In contrast to Viiaan´s early productions where sound design, ambient, and field recordings were the clear influences, the arrangements on Fusagasuga convey a unique perspective informed by underground club music, from techno to dance hall. The seemless blending of styles calls into question what any given genre is or isn´t, deconstructing old tropes to convey a fresh vision. 

For the visual side of Fusagasuga--her first full length--Viiaan called upon architect and 3D artist Luis Antonio Tovar (a.k.a Lats) and tattoo artist Alberto Monroy (a.k.a. Pandemic Tattoo).

You may be back at work today and yearning to be out in the sun. Fortunately, this month’s mix from coldmess (@r3alrodeo) has managed to distil the essence of a long weekend into a 26 minute mix. A core part of the team at Sable Radio, coldmess has stepped out of retirement to show us how it's done with this breakneck trip through hard hitting dancehall, club-ready drum workouts, drill from the UK and bouyon from Guadeloupe. If you need more of a reason to listen, I accidentally listened to this mix twice all the way through and then purposefully let it play once more.

Pour sa première émission de la saison, Sweet Juju invite Kokoprisci à partager les platines avec elle. Marseillaise installée à Paris, Kokoprisci ramène la chaleur du Sud sur la capitale. Pendant 7 ans, elle a enchaîné les projets événementiels avant de se lancer dans l’activité de DJ. Vraie geek de musique, elle mélange le reggaeton underground, l’afro, l’ambient, le breakbeat venu du Royaume-Uni et les musiques électroniques noires de l’est des USA (Ballroom, Baltimore club, Jersey club, Ghetto tech), le tout avec un esprit qui rappelle l’ambiance survoltée du Carnival de Notting Hill. Sweet Juju invite Kokoprisci

Feedback Moves kicks off 2023 with a new record by @xcrswx and Lolina. @xcrswx are Crystabel Riley (drum-/human-skin) and Seymour Wright (saxophone), they released ‘Call Time/Hard Out’ on Feedback Moves in 2020. Lolina is an electronic and digital musician, who has previously released music as Inga Copeland and was a member of the band Hype Williams. 

Their collaborative relationship stems back to 2020. Lolina invited @xcrswx to contribute new work to a radio residency on NTS. They made 3 pieces played across 3 episodes. After these were broadcast, further ideas were exchanged which led to a collaborative audio-visual piece, streamed on Cafe Oto’s website in February 2021. They also performed as a trio live at Café OTO in 2022.

The artists now present a split 10” vinyl. @xcrswx weave the above-mentioned pieces into a 10 minute piece titled ‘FIXES’. The duo strip their sound to bare components. Beginning with the sound of fireworks, the pair then work through stuttered snare shots and warbled, interplaying saxophone.

Lolina presents ‘FM’; some of her strangest and most subtle work to date. Echoing and furthering the abstract turntablism found on previous records ‘Who Is Experimental Music?’ and ‘Fast Fashion’. We hear found sounds, close and distant, rhythmically gathered and dissolved in a swirl of dub tone and timbre.

In this strange year's ending, and to ward off the curse, Serendip Lab offers you a nice end of year gift ! 

Unfortunately for his 10th birthday the festival did not happen this year. Nevermind, a compilation project with all invited artists since 2010 was born and what a good surprise people did answer the call : more than 90 tracks, reflecting the festival / label eclecticism and its evolution. 
From Pierre Bastien's mechanical music, present for the first year, to KK NULL's cyberpunk, whose cassette was our last release, very diverse scenes and styles are represented : psychedelic rock, post punk, improvised, concrete, industrial or rave music, synthwave, IDM, noise, rap, électro… Coming from all around France (Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Rennes, Lille...), Europe (Suede, Denmark, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Italy), or the world (USA, Australia, Indonesia, Japan), pioneers or new comers are mixed, as usual, in a huge and generous party, like a big dadaist mutant family.

So thanks a lot to the hundreds of artists who have participate to the adventure since all these amazing years, to the friends, volunteers, a lot of love to the artists in this compilation, and even more to Patrice Curtillat for the mastering, and Jean Turner for the artwork, and at last a stream of love to you all, hope to meet you soon, best wishes !
