American bass-baritone Daniel Klein makes his Seattle Opera debut in the double role of Stanley and Judge Moriarty in BOUND, a one-act chamber opera with music by Huang Ruo to a libretto by Bao-Long Chu. As both Diane’s inconsiderate boss, at the dry cleaners’ where she works, and the inflexible judge who puts her in jail for missing school, he contributes intense drama as the antagonist.
JUDGE MORIARTY: “America is a land of laws. You break the law and you pay for it. I am putting you in jail and holding you in contempt.”
DIANE: “No, no...”
