Kate Lindsey, who won Seattle Opera’s Artist of the Year award when she created the role of Amelia in Hagen’s “Amelia,” brings her world-famous Muse/Nicklausse to Seattle Opera’s “Tales of Hoffmann.” In the “Violin Aria” of Act Two, she encourages her poet friend to embrace his artistry: “See the wood vibrate beneath the quivering bow. Hear the heavenly words of that unknown soul. Listen as the clear sound of the weeping string pierces the air: It consoles your tears, it heals your agony with its sweet sorrow. This alone is love, love all-powerful; poet, give music your heart!”

Poemes is the brand new album from vocal sensation, Renee Fleming. The centrepiece of this album of 20th century French vocal masterpieces, Renee Fleming makes her first-ever recording of Ravel's ravishing Sheherazade. Complementing Sheherazade is Olivier Messiaen's collection of love songs to his young wife, the Poemes pour Mi. There is one piece written for Renee by the doyen of French composers, Henri Dutilleux, his dramatic Le Temps l'horloge. The album is completed by two earlier songs by Dutilleux, specially-orchestrated for this album and recorded in the presence of the composer.
