Pedro Mercado is one of the most known Belgian DJ/Producers in the Progressive House and Melodic Techno scene, reaching regularly the Beatport Top 100 on many highly regarded international labels (Parquet, Krafted Underground, Tanzgemeinschaft, Particles, Proton, Bonzai, Frequenza, Natura Viva, Dear Deer, Beatfreak, Manual, Awen, Project 13,...) which gets him gigs all over the world. He is also label manager of Chrom Recordings. 

During the pandemic and lockdowns he got more and more into Organic House and together with the multi-talented female artist Na Te, he founded “AkpaLa”, to make a clear distinction from his usual and known peaktime Progressive & Melodic style. In the studio Pedro Mercado & Na Te produce together the “AkpaLa” sound, and as DJ they play both B2B or as Pedro Mercado alone. So Pedro Mercado performing as AkpaLa will be deeper, slower and more ethnic, inspired by the sound of  events such as Burning Man & Gardens of Babylon.

In the past Pedro Mercado & Na Te released already several tracks & remixes together and 5 years ago they started a weekly radio show on Ibiza Global Radio. Nowadays they host monthly radioshows on Frisky Radio (Nomadland) & Proton Radio (Up-To-Deep). They are both also resident-DJs of the Planet Ibiza brand and performed already B2B in Belgium, Ibiza & Berlin. Starting from 2022 they will use the monniker “AkpaLa” for their collab tracks and their solo and/or B2B-sets in Organic House.

June 2024 marked my first all-night-long set of the year at Stereo, and what an unforgettable journey it was. For some reason, I decided to hit record that night….something I rarely do and it turned out to be the perfect capture of everything an all-night-long set should embody. Playing for a full 10 hours in a packed room was nothing short of magical.  I began the night with delicate ambient sounds, slowly building layer by layer. As the hours passed, the music evolved from soothing atmospheres to hypnotic grooves and high-energy peaks. The progressive flow carried us all the way to the final track, a culmination of hours of shared intensity and joy. Theres something incredibly special about creating a set from start to finish, telling a story that captures every emotion along the way.  Stereo is more than just a venue it’s my sanctuary of sound, a place where magic happens and where we all become one. The energy, love, and connection on the dancefloor were palpable, turning the night into an unforgettable experience. And recording the set was a stroke of luck as it captured not only the music but the crowd’s incredible reactions: the chants, the screams, the claps, the raw energy of the Stereoheads.  I feel so lucky to have this long-standing residency and to receive so much love from the Stereo family. Nights like this remind me why I fell in love with this craft. To everyone who shared the dancefloor with me that night, thank you for making it so special. And to those listening to the recording, I hope it takes you back to that magic 10 hours. One journey. One family. One Love. One Home. 💫
