Artist Bio:
German based Shelley established herself since 2019.
She showcases elemental sounds from the realms of Hypnotic, Deep Techno and
Drum’n’Bass. With a varying sound across genres of electronic music, Shelley has
landed gig’s at venues such as Tresor Berlin, Sektor Evolution in Dresden and
played at Florian Meindl’s Flash Lab.
Shelley has been featured in mix series from Crescent London, Revelation Of
Sound, Diffuse Reality and more.

Born and raised in the industrial suburbs of Turin, Stenny earned recognition in the last decade as both an accomplished producer and DJ. Exploring club culture and sound art, his journey has been one of constant research and reinvention, avoiding trends and the demands of contemporary music consumption while embracing the slower and more deliberate nature of his craft. 

Stenny’s work traverses the full electronic music landscape. Whether embracing new narrative structures and compositional experiments or consolidating the immediacy of a dancefloor-oriented project, each release marks a point of departure. Familiar yet constantly shifting, his sonic language remains identifiable within the experimental techno spectrum but expands beyond genre boundaries. 

Currently based in Munich, Stenny is an Ilian Tape affiliate and a Blitz Club resident. His artistic expression consists mostly of DJ sets and live performances. Fearless in his approach, he ventures through his broad range of musical influences with spontaneity and control, committed to creating an ever-unique and immersive experience.

Nuremberg’s Agy3na is up next in the Podcast roster with a call to explore his singular and nostalgic beats. The German selector got his break on his city’s dancefloors, and added experience as curator and organiser for a number of parties as part of a local promoter collective. Alongside his nighttime ventures, the fledgling talent has also been hard at work pursuing parallel studies in psychology and cognitive science, adding another layer to a varied set of inputs that has made his contributions to music all the more distinctive. There’s another layer too, his experience of blackness in Germany has brought him in contact with the world of Afrofuturism and the promise it brings, soundtracked now by a developing voice that packs a punch with its playful take on electro, house and 90s club culture. It’s music for the future, an aesthetic that plays with melody, percussion and fine-tuned technique to offer up a fresh take on old genres. In his new stomping ground of Leipzig, Dennis Höpfel blends music with research work and is sure to give the city something new and much needed. From set to set his thrashing rhythms have shown a sensitivity and awareness that’s deeply personal, a way of connecting with the world around him and giving something back. Still, their gathering felt and sounded more like a team that has been working together forever than an improvised set. 

If you were there, you know that. If not, much of their performance was recorded to give you a flavor of this great evening/night of performances and exhibitions, and perhaps a taste of what's to come.

Perfo is the 450th guest of our original HATE Podcast series.

This mix is an attempt to cover and condense what's been on my mind, shaping it into a coherent narrative - a sort of speculative history of imagined futures. I wanted to reward patient listeners with something that gradually unfolds, something that at moments feels eschewing and idiosyncratic, playing with tone and rhythm in ways that contrast trends. 

The story is propelled by this sense of futurism that has always existed in our music and our culture, while being firmly rooted in history's oldest instinct - forward motion.

IF? Records is Sebastian's most recent project, having taken it over from long time techno cohort Andrez Bergen aka Little Nobody, in 2010. IF? Records was established in Melbourne in 1995, has over 130 releases, and a roster that reads like a who's who of the underground in the last 15 years; James Ruskin, Aux 88, Ade Fenton, Si Begg, Dave Angel, Justin Berkovi, K. Alexi Shelby, Steve Stoll, BCR Boys, Justin Robertson, Thomas Heckmann, Jammin’ Unit and Inigo Kennedy, just to name a few.

Previously, Sebastian was best known for the part he played in pioneering techno in Beijing learning his craft as a resident DJ in the city's most infamous clubs, throwing parties on the Great Wall and touring China and Hong Kong. Also well established in his home town of Sydney, Sebastian has played all the best techno parties in last 10 years including Technikal, Beware the Cat, Subservice, Deep as Funk, Lost Baggage and Disconnected.

Sebastian's passion for techno began whilst at university in the UK where he promoted parties and collected vinyl. He has also written many words about electronic music, from feature articles and DJ profiles to gig and music reviews. He was notably editor at 3D World magazine in Sydney during its heyday at the end of the 90s. Sebastian has also worked for Point Blank Music College in the UK and Machine Musik in Australia teaching DJing and music production respectively. And still does the odd tutorial at Machine Musik when time allows. His production career began in 2007 with his debut release, on vinyl, reaching number 7 in the German Club Charts. No one was more surprised than him.
