Il crescente interesse per il canto gregoriano e per la musica antica in generale mi ha portato in questi anni a utilizzare brani e melodie provenienti da tali contesti quale ispirazione per nuove composizioni. Recentemente mi sono imbattuto in un Kyrie presente all’interno di un manoscritto della prima metà del ‘400, noto come Tr93, il quale, grazie ad alcune interessanti peculiarità, assecondava le mie ricerche estetico musicali. Questo brano, inserito anche in altre raccolte manoscritte dell’epoca, viene attribuito a Dufay, in versioni, però, diverse rispetto a quella del codice di Tr93 che evidenzia alcune aggiunte. In tali porzioni di musica, che si rilevano alla fine di ogni sezione del brano, è facilmente riconoscibile l’impronta creatrice di Dufay; non trovando riscontro in altri manoscritti del tempo, rendono unica questa composizione. Partendo da tale materiale, ho estrapolato melodie, ritmi, strutture e armonie che sono servite da base per la nuova composizione. Tr93 presenta, con ogni probabilità, un tentativo di scrivere un nuovo brano, partendo dal materiale originale di Dufay. La mia operazione, dunque, seppur molto lontana dalle intenzioni del copista del Kyrie di Tr93, ne condivide tuttavia alcuni aspetti. Il titolo del mio lavoro riassume sommariamente l’operazione compositiva che mi ha guidato; un pezzo che prende spunto da un brano già ricomposto: Dufay ri-recomposed.

Laguna ist ein dreiteiliges Werk, das von der venezianischen Lagune inspiriert ist. Die unregelmäßig geformten Rahmenteile präsentieren Klänge, die wie im Nebel gedämpft sind. Der zentrale, stärker strukturierte Teil, ist in Anlehnung an die Proportionen der imposanten Basilica della Salute gebaut. Das Gesamtergebnis ist der Gang eines Spaziergängers, der durch die Gassen der Stadt schlendert, innehält um die Basilika zu betrachten, und der dann seinen Weg fortsetzt, nun fasziniert von der imposanten Vision.

Die Aufnahmen entstanden im Rahmen des Kurses „Labor Neue Musik“.

Das Labor Neue Musik ist eine Veranstaltung der Kompositionsklasse der HfM Saar in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Studio für elektroakustische und experimentelle Musik, „eSpace“, der HfM Saar unter der Leitung von Prof. Arnulf Herrmann und Jürgen Martin. Im Jahr 2024 mit dem Zafraan Ensemble als Gast und Mentor.

Sebastiano de Salvo was born in Rovereto on the 8th of April, 1998. In 2017 he graduates at the senior high school "F. A. Bonporti" in Trento and three years later he obtains bachelor degree cum Laude in Piano accompaniment under the guidance of M° F. Consoli and M° M. Lambertini, at the Conservatorio Bonporti in Trento.	
	In 2016, he begins his studies in conducting with Maestro G. Guarino and at the same time he attends several masterclasses abroad with several symphonic institutions and important Masters, including: M° I. Karabtchevsky, M° L. Shambadal, M° V. Parisi and M° J. Salemkour. 
	He currently studies composition with the M° C. Colazzo at the Conservatory of Trento.
ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS:
	From the outset he has the opportunity to conduct instrumental groups and orchestras like "Bbrass", “Euroregionale Alpen Classica” Orchestra, “Fuoritempo” Orchestra, the “Petit OFT” and “Euthaleia” Orchestra, with which he performs many concerts in Italy and abroad, numerous first performances of unreleased songs and collaborates with internationally renowned soloists like M. Girardi, M. Krenn, P. Gusnar, J. Hyde e Y. Revich.
	In July 2018 he performs, as a pianist, in a recital for the ambassador of Sri Lanka, in his residence in Berlin and in the same year he is called to be part of the jury of the 21st edition of the Religion Today Film Festival, to evaluate the best soundtrack.
	In 2018 he begins a collaboration with the dance company "Seesaw Project" as a composer and pianist, with the realization of original music for the productions "Ri-Tratto-Carnale", "Dammi un Nome" and "Rough". The latter involves two dance companies, five composers and an orchestra.
	 In 2019, in the 20th edition of the “Mondi Sonori” Music Festival, two of his compositions are played: “Four elaborates for two violins” and “Luna”, for two sopranos and piano.  
	In August 2020 his composition "Fanfara", for wind quartet, wins one of the two awards at the Composition Competition "The sound of the Alps", organized by Argealp, of more than forty participants, from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
