After an excellent performance at Drumcode Festival, Tiger Stripes comes strong with his first EP on the label since 2009.

Since 2015 Tiger Stripes has been an invaluable contributor to Drumcode’s ‘little brother’ Truesoul. As recent as March he released ‘Sound of the Bettest’ in collaboration with Riva Starr, their fresh raggainfluenced take on techno entrenched as a 2018 highlight for the label. Drawing from a wide palette of sounds to craft his groovy, personality-laden take on techno, the Swede has produced arguably his finest work yet with the ‘Insanity’ EP. ‘Baby’ is a melting pot of three decades worth of influences, from James Brown, to Northern Soul and indie pop of Ariel Pink.

The result is a stunning kaleidoscopic techno treat, that brims with rave, garage and funky house spirit. ‘Insane’ is a dynamic feast for the eardrums as trippy arpeggios, a persistent vocal and lush synth leads cascade throughout the seven-minute track. ‘Too Deep (to Bear) follows, an exhilarating slice of late-night techno before the EP concludes with ‘Dying Planet’, mixing up a potent environmental message with tough dancefloor functionalism.

"The Ever Present Silent Observer" is a collaboration with the Aussie musician Peter Haze AKA TETRAMETH. The track was started in Byron Bay and we wrapped it up in Tel Aviv. It has one of the funkiest bass-lines I ever recorded. Pete recorded a pick scratching the guitar strings, tribal drum-breaks and brought us the genius sample alongside with some dark atmosphere pads. I remember actually sampling their bathroom trash can as a gong hit at some point :) It was a pleasure creating and an adventure collaborating with Pete for the 2nd time.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Wongo is back to burn up Box of Cats once more! Unseen on the label for over a year, we couldn't be more ready for new music from our head honcho!

Where has he been, you ask? Well, if you don't know that answer then you need a slap in the face with a bowl of kibbles. He’s been working 24/7 on this very label, writing two ARIA Club #1 singles in Australia, writing and producing a full music video for his record 'Im The DJ', releasing what may very well be the coronavirus anthem 'D.A.D'... Look, there’s no doubt that the man’s been busy, but as always Box Of Cats has been in his every thought.

This 3 track 'Not For Radio' EP is as the title explains: not written for radio. This is pure soul food, crafted with love and commitment while experimenting and growing during his time spent where he is most comfortable – in the studio. The records are a manifestation of what electronic music means to Wongo, drawing influences from techno, fidget, minimal, ghetto, and most importantly, HOUSE MUSIC!
