Icelandic neo-classical composer Ólafur Arnalds teams up with Bloodgroup mastermind Janus Rasmussen for a new project – Kiasmos. Having released their first tracks ‘65’ and ‘Walled’ in form of a split 12" with label mate Rival Consoles in 2009, 2012 shall finally see the duo return with their long-awaited debut album.
 
In the earlier days when Arnalds used to work as a sound engineer - often for Rasmussen's main project Bloodgroup - the two musicians discovered their common love for minimal, experimental techno music. At first they only met on weekends for a few drinks and used the time to create experimental sounds with beats various samples.  But they eventually became best friends, and now Janus often accompanies Ólafur's solo shows with his electronics.
 
Rasmussen, who has more experience with electronic music, usually crafts the beginning of the songs. As both have touring commitments, Rasmussen sends the first beats via email. With Arnalds’ good ear for pure and timeless melodies, he is then responsible for the overall song structure and the fine-tuning. ‘I am really enthusiastic about this project. Finally, I can make music that the people can dance to’, explains Arnalds in an interview with the German electronic music magazine Beat. The project is still a weekend project, an excuse for both boys to ‘get out of the house’ so to speak and do different music to what they normally do. Something refreshing for the weekends…

Here comes the remix package for Lowe Aka User’s Plastik Tanzen EP which came out at the beginning of this summer on Vilnius’ freshly baked label Where Were We? Sadly, stems and original project of “Nepalese Honey” track has burned down together with Lowe Aka User’s hard drive, so remixes are coming only for “Palms Boulevard” and “Tanz Botanik” tracks.

The first three versions of “Palms Boulevard” were made from already well-known and established names in Italo field: Scotsman, always on point Donald Dust, Italian, Amsterdam-based and super-prolific Daniel Monaco and back to France from Hong Kong, proper edits master Romain FX. 

Guys took rather different approaches for making their versions and all of them put their own spin on the OG. We hope that each and everyone of you will fall in love with one version or the other or maybe with all three of them, just as we did. The last version of “Tanz Botanik” comes from a local hero, Lithuanian talent and also known Italo lover Jonas aka Black Feeling. Although this version is the most housey from the whole package, we think that it compliments the entire pack very nicely. 

Euphoric italo house at it’s best!
