Sébastien Mertes was born in 1981, in Metz, he began music at the age of 10 or he began by discovering the piano, in the class of Emanuel Klein, he then practiced the violin / viola for 7 years in the class by Carole Wenish, at the EMARI music conservatory.
It was in the early 2000s that he discovered the Central European panpipe. Self-taught at first, he then perfected himself with great recognized international flautists:
In 2012, in Germany, with Dorian Gheorghilas, professor at the Offenburg Conservatory.
In 2013, he began his first concerts with the "Jubilatio" choir, under the direction of Malou Diomède.
Since 2014, he has continued his training thanks to the summer Master Classes offered by the Swiss virtuoso Michel Tirabosco.
Since 2016, he has continued his training with Lydie Cerf, a transverse flautist, co-soloist with the National Orchestra of Metz, to improve his classical music.
Since 2018, he has been perfecting himself in traditional Central European music, thanks to the Master Classes of Raluca Patuleanu, professor at the "Belgian Panflute School" in Dendermonde (Belgium), which also allows him to improve with other great masters. , like Ulrich Herkenhoff (Germany) or Stefan Negura (Moldavia), and join on this occasion, a pan flute ensemble which performs in France and Belgium.
In 2019, he performed on stage at the legendary “cala cu orga (Organ Hall)” in Chisinau, Moldova, with the “Rapsozii Moldovei” orchestra, under the direction of Dorin Vitalie, as part of a International master class in pan flute, with great masters of the discipline such as Boris Rudenco, Vasile Iovu, as well as the university professor Ion Négura.
This also allows it to develop internationally.
