A first stab at combining DAWless jammin' with vocals. Huge thanks to Sid — from Drop the Gun — for his top lyrics and vocals! These were recorded in a single take, chopped up and loaded onto the MPX8 👍

Something a bit different… I started by recording a steel tongue drum and loading the samples onto an Akai MPX8. I then got the regular synths involved and sequenced everything with the BeatStep Pro — love the new 'roller/looper' feature!

Atomic Arcade Pinball ⚛️

I've rehomed a stray RW — it's primitive, it's flawed, it's great!

Had an idea to coax chords out of it using a looper pedal. Learnt a few tricks along the way… The synth stays calibrated if you tune the machine once it's warmed up (after a good half hour 😅). The kick lacks a snappy transient, doubling it with the percussion voice helps.

Just got an Akai Tom Cat analog drum machine - stoked with it. For this track I hooked up the Tom Cat and Volca Keys to a sequencer via MIDI. The acoustic Lorenzo Reed Organ was added for a blanket of warm drone.

A perilous journey through the badlands by foot… I was trying to get a bit of a Hank Marvin type tone on my Burns Marquee Pro (buckets of tremolo and reverb).

Grabbed this beautiful/dodgy JEN BRIO 49-P Combo Organ (Italian 1960's)complete with a rhythm machine – though I'd give it a whirl! Also had a crack at recording a Hohner 64 Chromonica.

A change from the regular format…

In addition to the regular Akai & Korg analogue synth lineup I've synchronised a DigiTech JamMan Express looper to the TomCat drum machine using a SyncMan pedal from Custom Live Electronics. This amazing and relatively inexpensive pedal provides tight midi sync so I can build up chords using a mono synth on the fly.

I've also dropped in a one-shot sample using a Yamaha SU10 sampler. The sample's from the 1988 horror movie Slugs, about mutant garden slugs with a taste for human flesh!

DAWless Jammin' in tribute to Mosquito (1994) a good-bad flick featuring rampaging mutant mosquitoes the size of vultures 🏚🦟🦟🦟

An opportunity to try out the Beatstep — both as a sequencer to randomise the Tom Cat, and as a controller for the Behringer Neutron. A bit of juggling to keep it all going.
