Dust off a wine glass or three; today we raise a toast to one of the most dedicated house music institutions — Smallville Records. Ten years is a ruddy good time in this part of town, and establishing such a loveable brand takes some doing. Yet, with misty-eyed house at its core, the record store-cum-label has confidently strutted towards the big ten. To celebrate, the Hamburg fam are dispensing the third and fourth part of the Ways Series — entitled Smallville Ways — with a two four-track 12" and an 11-track CD. 

Naturally, the roll-call reels off like a FIFA dream team equivalent: STL, Christopher Rau, Moomin, L'Amour Fou (Move D with Benoit Bouquin (BB) and Marco Wollenberg), Smallpeople, Juniper, Jacques Bon, Lawrence, Rvds & Rau, and Tilman Tausendfreund.

Kornél Kovács' offering carves the deepest incision though. Remodelling a D'Angelo Rhodes piano sample into a diet version of itself, "Space Jam" is as airy and uncluttered as we've come to expect. Here's to another decade then, ayy.

Ara Koufax (Sam Gill and Luke Neher) have made music and videos together in Melbourne, Australia for over a decade.

Their latest EP follows a string of two-track releases through Cutters Records, CSCN and Fort Romeau's Cin Cin imprint.

'Sweet Pitch' forgoes utilitarian club tracks. Instead, facsimiles of techno, fake trance, uncanny-valley breaks, shuffles, and disembodied voices find their home in a spacious ambient soundscape. It's a compilation of music that never happened.

Isolation can be weird and troublesome but also a great opportunity for reflection and inspiration. These are some seriously strange times we are all living in and sometimes it gets hard to imagine a healed world. Even though things like music and art can feel so trivial in these times, it’s often the thing that saves us from darkness. I offer to you ‘Epoch Flux’ - a 6-song mini-album of new songs I’ve made while shut away from the outside world. Hopefully something to inspire or even distract from all the craziness we are faced with right now. I hope everyone is feeling ok, and at the very least, safe wherever you are. I hope we can continue to envision a better world of tomorrow, together. -

After Brexit, we thought it would be a brave attempt to snatch the Queen's interpretational sovereignty over the colour purple. So, we have named our new record just like that. Of course, this is only half the truth, as we named all six other UV050 compilation records after colours as well. The purple one, this one right here, is the second to last, completely with the wonderful artwork by Leipzig’s Doppeldenk and four tracks to dance your ass off to.

Berlin-based Lake People does what he does best with ROAMING THE STREETS: A subtle and razor-sharp track that points out that good dance music can sweeten your life everywhere, not only in the club.

Premiere : Joe Morris - A Brighter Future

Searching for new ways to express himself, Maarten Smeets (one half of Detroit Swindle) has found a new perspective on music in his alter ego “Wanderist”. Here, he shares his unique view on contemporary electronic music with strong influences from dub, electro, techno and ambient in tempo’s that match the intensity, funk and drive of his sound. 

We feature Dauwd's remix of the title track 2r2t, which fizzes into action from the off. The bassline meanders around the mix in a ferocious yet controlled manner, driving the track forward throughout, whilst serving as the primary melodic device. Shades of Wanderist's original are brought through and warped by Dawud, showcasing once more his adept nous for reimagination. One for club IRL but it works just fine for transporting you there for now.
