With a penchant for off-kilter drum and bass, bass, dub and dubstep, sina meticulously curates sets that mix and match elements of atmospheric trip hop, murky post-DnB and the mischievous 2-step sounds of the 90/00s. Witnessing sina grace the decks at Inward Goods festival was a nostalgic luxury - I felt like I’d stepped into some form of magical Y2k swamp party, where only the best of early 2000s drum and bass were being thrown down. Sina’s contributions to the community extend beyond the decks and into the realm of party planning and label curation (Secret World) whilst also forming ⅓ of the band dregs. berlin-based, italy-born dj & producer notte infinita graces the 909 series this week with a session that glistens and glows. starting with the dreamy downtempo soundscapes of kincaid, konduku, and joe caven, the mix leans on insect-like drums and synths that sound like mating calls in the night before moving into more introspective and darker moods. it’s a session made to soundtrack hazy early mornings whilst you melt away in your surroundings, soaking everything in. 

notte infinita is one of my go to producers. his remix of big hand’s ‘girde maye / astere’ has been on repeat ever since it was released ~ it’s a challenge in of itself to not include it in every set or mix i play. it has that dreamy, hazy quality that you will find in his 909 mix with a loopy vocal to get lost in. with a strong affinity to soundsystem culture and sound design, notte infinita’s productions can go from the slippery dancehall mutations that are found on his manila killer float / slippery ruff ep to epic world building as found on hi-tech roller remix of priori’s pareidolia. there’s also further notable releases on in:dex and oscilla sound.

OK EG  turn inwards on Silent Green, their new release on Kia's ambient label, Cirrus. Written for a live performance in Berlin, Silent Green finds balance between intimate post club dream states and low tempo rhythmic workouts.

Fragmented voices harmonise with delicate synths and organic textures on open sky.
Wooden machinery clicks and whirs on veil, opening into an inner expanse.

Optimistic warmth and melancholy blend on spirit, knitted with resonant hi hats, scrolling
wavetables and dubbed claves.

Sequenced hand drums and piccolo snares create structure for rising pads and analog bass on death adder, as subtle grooves unfurl under the watchful gaze of digital crows.
The artwork, created by the Amsterdam based digital artist @tharimcornelisse , finds the cycle of life and death in the artificial environment of a greenhouse, digitally blended with patch notes from the first time the music was performed.
