Esilum - Day Two (Gianmarco Silvetti Remix)

Archaic Print is a label linked to one of the most famous podcast series, 12 Inch, which hosts sessions by techno geniuses such as DJ T-1000, Sleeparchive, Emmanuel Top, Antonio De Angelis, Esteban Adame, Cristian Varela, Zadig and a huge list of more than 400 sessions by different established artists, both on the international and national scene. As a label, Archaic Print only bets on one direction, which is to release all their material only in vinyl format and staying true to their style.

In their third reference they have the Spanish producer Aiken , an artist we have seen working with such respectable platforms as Semantica, M_REC LTD or Key Vinyl, and who has a very identifiable style, as he usually adds a mental atmosphere to his music, either by the timbre of his sequences, by the harmonic combination or by the elaboration of linear patterns.

Third Chapter is a heterogeneous EP, with three tracks by the author himself, which very well represent Aiken's ideals as a producer. Side A opens with the track of the same name, a track with a cosmic character that is marked by the great energetic dose that the arpeggio provides, as it increases the dynamism with its rapid execution of notes. With Endless Battle, Aiken returns to the sequential formula of the melodic chord, this time with a tighter tonal tessitura, but just as invigorating and intense.

The B-side opens with a remix of Third Chapter by Robert Witschakowski with his great project The Exaltics, to which he gives a band treatment, although the only member is Robert himself. And as we might expect, his version adapts to his style, maintaining the hegemony of the arpeggiated sequence but giving it an electronic sound environment with a brilliant rhythm and textures more typical of genres such as electro. Strategy is the cut that closes the album and the most cerebral track on the EP, as the author divides each rhythmic parameter into multiple spaces, where he strategically places different elements with the intention of placing the listener in a false sense of balance.

On this first release on Lømsk Records, four characterful & sly tracks reside.

Starting with “Greven”, its focus is on an eroding & melodic synth line, with pulsating & abundant drums and clattering hi-hat patterns. Next comes “Skamsen” twisting things with wriggle-inducing detuned polyrhythmic sequences & straight machine funk. With the two tracks on the B-side, things take a shifty turn with the first one being the nervous “Svett”, a sweaty energy entity with haunting reverse elements. The record rounds off with “40W”, a hysterical action-filled no-nonsense track rooted in classic dance-floor action.

The Esilum project composed of JON HASH and SIAM was born at the
beginning of 2019 but laid its foundations many years earlier when they first
met by chance at a party where they gave birth a collaboration later
appreciated in Italy and abroad.

Berlin’s experienced music maestro MSDMNR puts together his latest track pack of four original works given the title Decypher which is his first release of 2023 following a killer remix for Mutecell.

As an artist, MSDMNR has released on top labels like Jonas Kopp’s TREMSIX, Coyu’s Suara and Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien as well as putting out his debut album last year that impressed us greatly with a wealth of high quality productions.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the track “End” that has a rough and ready aesthetic. Gritty layers of crunching static combine with haunting waves of smoke-like atmosphere all set and guided by a jabbing kick and flickering hi-hats to make an ethereal, analogue experience.

The Attic Music label strives to keep us dancing in these difficult times with a new EP from red hot young Portuguese talent Nørbak featuring a remix from the label’s owner Fabrizio Lapiana. 

Over the last four years, Artur Moreira has quickly established his avant-garde techno sound on labels like Semantica, Soma, Warm Up Recordings and his own label, Hayes. Always exploring the deep and dark end of the spectrum, he has picked up props from the likes of Oscar Mulero and Dasha Rush while going on to establish his name around Europe with killer sets at places like Tresor in Berlin. 

The excellent 'Pledge I' opens up with a menacing groove that burrows late into an underground cavern. It sounds earthy and organic and the rock solid kick drums get you into a state of hypnosis while the scurrying synths add more details in which to get lost. 'Pledge II' is another masterfully heady and journeying track that layers up more rubbery, propulsive kick drums with fizzing, electrified synth sounds and pads that encircle you and get you into a state of trance. It's hugely warm and atmospheric. 

Over the last decade, Lapiana and his label have become synonymous with evocative techno soundscapes on the finest labels around. Here he serves up a remix of 'Pledge III' that is perfectly smooth and seductive, with soft, looping melodic phrases slowly shapeshifting and melting your mind as they do so. The drums burrow deep into the night and make this a timeless minimal techno classic.  Last of all, 'Pledge IV' is a silky techno track that rolls to infinity, with cosmic pads and subtle melodies all weaving around each other and tying your brain in knots.  

This is another tasteful EP of high grade techno that works mind, body and soul.
