There is a unique presence in the work of Toronto based Duo, Nature of Music. There is a sense of patience that allows their sound to ‘breathe’ in the framework of their sets and their production work. The duo fuses rhythm, melody, and harmony into musical works that combine both live performance and DJing into sophisticated blends. Drum machine rhythm pieces, mesmerizing palettes of melody sprinkled with hints of spoken word and acapella, and rich atmospheric pads and string ensembles create deep harmonies that all play equal rolls in the duo’s theater of sound.

Nature of Music formed in 2009 and has since worked with some of the industry’s most innovative tastemakers. They have been praised by industry heavyweight, Hernan Cattaneo as a “Top production duo to look out for.” This is reflected with their releases for Cattaneo’s influential Sudbeat label. Their talent has brought them to international territories across oceans for both intimate affairs and crowd jamming festivals.

Secret Society Sessions is a weekly podcast, recorded and broadcasted live every Wednesday from 6-9pm at a bar called ‘Pacific Junction Hotel’ on King St East, Toronto.

When it began two years ago, the goal was to create an atmosphere for a regular gathering — an event in celebration of getting over the midweek hump, centered around a love for music. This weekly event encourages the community to go out early with friends, to listen to artistically curated sounds, and to go home early — proving that a night out does not have to be followed by a day in.

The project has since received tremendous support from the people of Toronto and continues to expand as a social collective with the help of its members today. The unique musical vibe created by the different weekly pairings of local DJs is what has kept people coming back week after week for two years.

On March 22nd, the show reaches Episode 105, which is the milestone of the event series turning two years old. The music will be curated by Secret Society’s resident DJs, Thomas Cardin, MRKG and Sierra. This is not only the celebration of Sessions, but a significant landmark that proves that the City of Toronto has a nearly infinite pool of talent, filling dance floors in the city, every week - even on a Wednesday.

Mark Poludnikiewicz or 'Markis’ as most call him, started spinning with MRKG in 2001. He was asked to co-found a record company and label, Omnis Music Group and Adverse Recordings under the instruction of the Swedish Techno grandfather Glenn Wilson of Punish fame. Mark later partnered with Ella Beck to form the duo EllaXAugustus. Together they played at select venues throughout the city ranging from elusive rooftop parties, night clubs, after-hours, and undisclosed locations. The pair also made appearances at the likes of Cabana, Pride, and the Royal Ontario Museum. Mark still continues to throw his Deep Kiss, LGTKEOB, and Flipside events, however these are well kept secrets that are only disclosed to a tight knit community in the Toronto underground scene. Now, Mark has reunited with Tim and after roughly half a decade apart, the pair are ready to reenter the scene with full force. With many surprises in the works, Toronto house and techno lovers should be prepared for what the duo known as 'special forces' have in store. Together, they have combined their diverse crates and radical influences in order to seamlessly blend tracks together creating a harmonious party atmosphere.

Hilary Jean is making her long awaited debut for Secret Society. The last few years have seen her explore realms of music ranging from acoustic to electronic. Her songwriting abilities have led her to collaborate with Toronto mainstays such as Alberto Jossue and Aleksandar Kojic among others.

On the performance front, Hilary is no stranger behind the decks. Having a history of playing for crowds for over seven years, she has formed her own musical identity within the sphere of deep textures and house influenced beats. In2Deep is an Egyptian Montreal-based duo created out of both members’ instinctive desire to write and share their music. Their sets are expressive journeys distinguished by their emotional yet groovy edge, blending house, techno and anything in between, all while maintaining a natural flow through impeccable mixing and programming. Their versatile DJing style has resulted in them sharing bills with some of the world’s most revered selectors over the years.

Running alongside DJing has been a parallel career as producers, where the pair have long experimented with synth sounds and drumloops. Today their work has grown to encompass a number of releases on labels such as Akbal, Musik Gewinnt Freunde and Seven Villas. Their success in the studio is exemplified by collaborating with artists such as YokoO and Pablo Bolivar and earning praise by connoisseurs like Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Lee Burridge.

In late 2013, their ear for good music was put to good use when they decided to launch their own label imprint, L’enfant terrible, which has since featured an array of new and established artists as well as a few of their own tracks and remixes. Deadly Vanity is comprised of Joel Waznicky and James MacGregor. A DJ and production duo based out of Toronto, Canada. 
They first crossed paths in their hometown located just outside of Toronto while each pursued music through playing guitar. Each played in various different bands over the years but it wasn’t until 2008 that they reconnected and started writing music together for the first time. Digging the musical ideas that were coming to life they decided to form a band with a few friends to expand on what they were creating and to bring it to a live audience.
Out of a necessity of growth they naturally gravitated towards electronic dance music, constantly finding themselves on dance floors across the city. The music's emotional expressiveness and vast sonic possibilities drove them to pursue DJing and to the production of their own dance music.
In the short time since their incarnation they've had the fortune of sharing the stage with some of the world’s best DJ’s: Tiga, Tale of Us, Robert Babicz, Russ Yallop, Justin James, Joy Orbison, Chaim, Nitin, Ray Okpara, and Satoshi Tomiie. And with the inception of the Electric Island festival a few years back they found themselves on the 1st season’s closing event. A definite highlight of their DJing career thus far.
