Up to kick off 2021 in the most adequately frenzied, thoroughly corrosive fashion, DDS04 serves up a quintet of chrome-tanned, hi-velocity beats courtesy of Italian hardware fetishist Anna Funk Damage (previously heard on the likes of Mind Records, Lux Rec, Lazy Tapes and more) and Austrian-Hungarian outfit Dutch Courage - alias Superskin & Új Bála - each of whom step up to the plate to deliver an exquisitely ear-wormy slice of their deranged industrial gospel.

A-side starts off to the sound of AFD’s hard bouncin' "48 Hours Death" - a raw-cooked deluge of head-reducing EBM grit, flaring binary signals and Giallo-infused arpeggios out a blood-stained Suspirian tale. Fear for the deadly scalp hunters lurking in the club’s darkest nooks, they’ve just sniffed out your trail. 

Brutal churner “Youssef” picks up the torch and pulls out the quake-inducing breaks without further ado, dressed out with languorous Orientalistic melodies and steely distortions tailored to bend mind by the dozens. Forged in the furnace, the full-out punk-minded “I Come From Fire” rounds off the side on a drum and bass-heavy note, drawing as much from 60s psych-garage as it does from 80s deconstructionist tape music.

Flip sides and here’s Budapest unit Dutch Courage taking the reins with the off-kilter treat “Hand Of The Sword” - navigating a weird zone of its own, floating astride post-apocalyptic Bristol bass, sliced-and-diced abstraction and overly textured yet equally bone-bruising riddims. 

Wrapping up the journey with both force and serenity, “Neo-Soulmates” follows a similar path with its warped synth flexions and raucous machine cries making the rounds from one end of the spectrum to the other effortlessly, merging to give birth to something genetically contrasting from any contemporary. A most fitting finale to an EP that celebrates and encourages sonic bizarro in all its forms and manifestations.

Pater Noster presents their fifth release, Aposynthesis by Overloper . a side project of Ekman

The a-side brims with tension both contemplative and active. ‘Hope your close’ is a deep burner, with heavy, pounding bass and entrancing hook ascending to space. This then escalates into the urgency of ‘Aposynthesis (need more sisa)’, in which a driving, rolling rhythm is juxtaposed with an old school dutch rave synth. As with tension of the reverse the b-side encircles acid, being on one hand coyly playful with ‘Carpe noctem’ and then cavernous in Innsyter’s dark interpolation on the other.

The 140 gram record comes white label with black sleeve and sticker. edition of 500. distro by Lobster Distribution.

After a brief cameo on the quadruple tape beast “Auditory”(2018), Evitceles is back on Sound+Matter / Sores. This time heʼs making a full-length appearance. Following acclaimed releases for electronic powerhouses as Opal Tapes, Yerevan Tapes, Seagrave or Sofia-based Amek Collective among others, Bulgarian producer Etien Slavchev presents ‘Нелюбовʼ. 

Roughly translating in English as ‘Nonloveʼ itʼs exactly what youʼll get from the record. “Нелюбов“ is mostly occupying the lower ends of both the frequency and the emotional specters of Evitcelesʼ music. Choosing to serve the music narrative through a fluidly morphing tracklist, Evitceles once again indulges into his signature genre-bending approach. His music doesnʼt stay on the same place for too long. Instead itʼs a relentless mixture of peaks and come-downs. 

From the bleak and disrupted soundscapes of Memory Loss through the sparse ambience of the self-titled track, the cavernous trip-hop vibe of Weak Eyes or his well-known post-club brutalism in Poisonous Fragrance and Percolating Crawl. Evitceles is still big on producing drum-heavy music, dripping with cut-up emotional textures. However, atmosphere is all in “Нелюбов“ so donʼt be surprised when you hear him wrapping the album with not one or two, but three drifting long-form pieces, because in the end of the day everything is meant to die in silence.

"Нелюбов" will be released on Cassette / Digital on the 25th of September.

Newboy aka Greg Vand fait aussi partie du duo High-Functionning Flesh (@hxfxfx), pour ce nouvel E.P il s'inspire entre autre de l'univers du roman de Samuel Delaney, Dhalgren. En résulte un savant mélange de synthés mélodiques et de vocaux punk, qui reflète le caractère plus experimental de cet alias de Greg Vand. Plus franc que son premier E.P, Funky Bullshit, dans cet E.P on retrouve aussi un côté plus funky.
