“I’m always listening to lots of different types of mixes and productions, especially from the 2000-2010 period, which definitely inspire my own mixes and productions a lot. There seems to always be a specific sound or moment in an old mix or track I find, which then inspires me to produce or dig for that vibe.”
 
“I have a few gigs and releases planned over the next few months, which I’m so so excited for! It definitely feels surreal to be playing outside of Australia for the first time. I have also been feeling very inspired production wise, making as much music as possible, including some new tracks which are in this mix :) ”

The entity known as ‘Box Elder’ has been a longstanding contributor to the Ngunnawal scene for many years. Whether it’s through his work as one-fifth of Gross Motor Play, his raucous house party sets or his many club/doof performances, Mr Box has had many fingers in many proverbial pies. Now Eora based, the semi-retired DJ returns for a rare mix for Chalkboard that has been described by some as “proggy, swampy, trancy goodness” and described by his own mother as “harsh to the ears”. Listen to find out which school of thought you belong to.
