Birmingham-based DJ and producer, Danny Canaan aka Danny Kane is the master of linking the past to the future, and his debut album ‘We Come In Peace’ on Midnight Riot is destined to be the soundtrack of the summer and beyond. 

With 16 tracks including original compositions, remixes and collabs, it displays Kane’s depth as a highly-skilled studio don and multi-instrumentalist, primarily playing the bass and piano.

A bonafide funk guru, the album is a journey into Danny’s love for all things Funk, Disco and Boogie. The album is packed with shimmering Saturday night synth-fired treats and features some of the most talented artists and songwriters on the scene including Jack Tyson Charles, Jacqui George, Sophie Paul, Princess Freesia & Natasha Kitty Katt with remixes courtesy of JKriv, Qwestlife, Art Of Tones & Yam Who?

With a career spanning more than two decades, Danny Kane’s journey through music has seen him work with some of the biggest names in the industry including Massive Attack’s Sara Nelson, Brit Pop sensations All Saints, Reggae legend Bitty McLean & the uber-talented vocalist Robert Owens while he also co-produced UB40’s hit album ‘Labour of Love 3.’ 

Outside of touring and producing for bands, Danny has remixed huge names like Chaka Khan, Amp Fiddler, Kim English and has collaborated with Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay, Luke Solomon, Honey Dijon plus legendary UK disco boogie band Delegation.

To celebrate the release of ‘We Come In Peace’, Danny will be performing and showcasing his album with a special live PA alongside Sophie Paul Princess Freesia, as part of Midnight Riot’s 10th anniversary tour in London on 1st April at 93 Feet East.

This time Bootsy has teamed up with soul brother Chew Fu who is no stranger to Peppermint Jam as he already had a massive one with his amazing cover of Prince´s „Purple Rain“, sung by legend Steve Clisby, the main man at American Gypsy ( Inside out). The track was a solid favorite of Black Coffee. „Nothing but you" is a proper piece of funk and we just had to spice it up with some of the hottest names around for the remix: Art Of Tones, Cody Currie and Rodney Hunter, nothing more to say! Fun fact: Bootsy and Mousse T. go way back as they worked together on 2 of Bootsies albums in the past, Play with Bootsy and Fresh outta „P“ university. Check out „The mothership“, total bop!

We now welcome back to the label our Argentinian star and uprising talented producer 'Alexny' with a brand new 4 tracker EP digging deep into a vast variety of musical roots adding a modern touch to it. To open this incredible journey 'I Believe' comes in the form of a classic disco cut with a housey drum ensemble and fresh guitar riffs attached to the groove making it perfect as an opener track for any occasion. For our second stop 'Diggin' Roots' arrives with an exceptional funky groove, cheerful vocals and outstanding flute solos bringing us back to the 70s. Right next to it 'Tamanqueiro' takes us all the way to South America with an exotic Brazilian-boogie blend consisting in traditional cuicas and congas for the rhythm section.
