Ecstatic Dance Journeys

In times of great turbulence, we created a beautiful festival, within the legal structures, to provide a place to dance together. Two weeks of free form dance therapy, a celebration of life, an intimate encounter with yourself, drumming around the fire, connecting to the tribe and heart to heart, exploring boundaries and desire and the perfect mess of being human, making 'mistakes' and growing from them, starting again in every moment, inviting more clarity, more wholeness, more love, more light.

The past years I played many many sets at beautiful locations, but this set was one of my most ecstatic sets. Going beyond our daily mind, merging with the music, becoming one with the dance. A deep bow to ALL the dancers.

Ecstatic Dance Amsterdam, Q Factory (may 2021)

Ecstatic Dance is so beautiful. In a space without words we allow ourselves to express however we wish, going inwards and out, up and down. The past year I've played almost 100 ecstatics and I am deeply grateful.

This mix stuck with me. I've listened to it at home a few times, and it grew. It grew into something I really would like to share online, might be one of my best sets of the past year. The music, the transitions, the journey. It has a long build up, shamanic elements, hypnotic pulse, heart opening, soothing softness, jazz vibes and raw wild loudness. It is my flavour of Ecstatic Dance.

Ecstatic Dance Zurich, Switzerland (apr 2023)

A magical dance journey recorded at one of the finest places for Ecstatic Dance: ED Festival Holland at the magnificent castle The Berckt. The energy for this dance was very special, dancing with more then 400 people to the same beat. Celebrating our freedom and uniqueness. Diving deep into silence and full on outburst of high energy. Deeply grateful to have been part of another beautiful edition.

I love the people from Romania. I felt so welcome by their kindness. Oh, and all the delicious food. It is so beautiful to visit the different communities of Ecstatic Dance all around the world. 🌍

So I've put my love back into the music.
Here is the result: 2 hours of my latest favourite tracks blended into an ecstatic journey to dance. The energy went from very soft and gentle, to wild explosive raw power! 🔥

Sefrijn is a musician, meditator, multidisciplinary artist and entrepreneur based in The Netherlands. For the past 7 years Sefrijn's musical focus has been Ecstatic Dance, catalysing this growing movement by playing at countless locations. DJ sets are always created in the moment, his music is carefully selected to offer diversity in genres, emotions and speed.

Sefrijn is known for embodying the music behind the decks, dancing along and attuning to the people. As a classically trained pianist he combines technical musical knowledge with a deep love for intuitive improvisation. Expect world music mixed with electronics. Tribal infused percussion, booty shaking beats, shamanic sounds drawing you deeper into the dance, soft ambient, playful acoustic or meditative esoteric sounds.

Next to DJing, Sefrijn played over 100 mantra circles with Cosmic Circle, organises ecstatic dance events, facilitated mindfulness retreats with Wake Up & Plum Village and loves to write code. Loving father of a daughter and a son.
