بے خود کیے دیتے ہیں اندازِ حجابانہ
آ دل میں تجھے رکھ لوں اے جلوہء جانانہ

بس اتنا کرم کرنا اے چشمِ کریمانہ
جب جان لبوں پر ہو تم سامنے آجانا

دنیا میں جو تم نے مجھے اپنا بنایا ہے
محشر میں بھی کہہ دینا یہ ہے میرا دیوانہ

جی چاہتا ہے تحفے میں بیھجوں میں اُنہیں آنکھیں
درشن کا تو درشن ہو نزرانے کا نذرانہ

پینے کو تو پی لوں گا پر عرض ذرا سی ہے
اجمیر کا ساقی ہو بغداد کا میخانہ

کیوں آنکھ ملائی تھی کیوں آگ لگائی تھی
اب رُخ کو چھپا بیٹھے کر کہ مجھے دیوانہ

ہر پھول میں بو تیری، ہر شمع میں ضو تیری​
بلبل ہے ترا بلبل، پروانہ ترا پروانہ ​

جس جاء نظر آتے ہو سجدے وہیں کرتا ہوں ​
اس سے نہیں کچھ مطلب کعبہ ہو یا بُت خانہ​

میں ہوش و حواس اپنے اس بات پہ کھو بیٹھا​
ہنس کر جو کہا تُو نے آیا میرا دیوانہ ​

بیدم میری قسمت میں سجدے ہیں اُسی در کہ
چُھوٹا ہے نہ چُھوٹے گا سنگِ در جانانہ

کیا لطف ہو محشر میں میں شکوے کیے جاؤں
وہ ہنس کہ کہے جائیں دیوانہ ہے دیوانہ

ساقی تیرے آتے ہی یہ جوش ہے مستی کا
شیشے پہ گرا شیشہ پیمانے پہ پیمانہ

معلوم نہیں بیدم میں کون ہوں اور کیا ہوں
یوں اپنوں میں اپنا ہوں بیگانوں میں بیگانہ

The mystery/style of your concealment has left me out of my senses
Come, let me place You in my heart O splendour of the cosmos

Just do one act of goodwill towards me, O generosity to the eyes
When my life is leaving past my lips manifest Yourself before me

In the same way you have made me Yours in this world
Say also on the day of judgement that this is my lover!

My heart wills for me to send Them my eyes as a gift
It would be the sight of all sights, the view of all views

I will drink the drink, but I have a small request
May it be the drink of Ajmer in the tavern of Baghdad

Why did you catch my eye? Why did you ignite this fire?
Now you have hidden yourself, having turned me into your lover.

In every flower is your scent, in every lamp/candle is your illumination
The nightingale sings your songs, this moth is your moth

Wherever I see you that is where I fall into prostration,
It does not matter if it is the House of God or if it is a temple full of idols

I fall in and out of consciousness caught in this thought
When you lovingly smiled and said ‘Here comes my lover.’

Bedam, in my destiny are prostrations at that sacred abode,
He has not left nor will He leave me, that Resident of the sacred abode

What elation it will be on the day of reckoning, I will be going along complaining
They will lovingly smile and say ‘He is my lover, my lover.’

Just at the arrival of Your intoxicant, this is jubilation, not mischief
Glass has fallen upon glass, intoxicant upon intoxicant.

I do not know O Bedam, who I am or what I am
Like this I am one of our own, a stranger amongst strangers.

Mehshar mein bhi keh daina yeah hai mera deewana

Jee chahta tuhfay main bhehjoon main unhain aankhain
Darshan ka toh darshan ho nazrane ka nazrana

Peeney ko to pee loun ga per araz zara see hai
Ajmair ka saqi ho baghdad ka maikhana

Kyun aankh milai thi, kyoon aag lagai thee
Aab rukh ko chupa baithay kar kay mujhay deewana

Har phool main boo teri har shama mai zoo teri
Bulbul hai tera bulbul parwana tera perwana

Jis ja nazar aate ho sajday wahin karta houn
Iss say nahin kuch matlab Kaaba ho ya butkhana

Main hosh hawaas apne iss baat pe kho baitha
Hans ker jo kaha tu ne aaya mera deewana

Bedam meri kismat mein sajday hain oosi dar kay
Chuta hai na chuthay ga sange dar e janana

Kiya lutf ho mehshar mein main shikway kiye jaoon
Woh haskay kahay jayein deewana hai dewana!

Saaqi teray aatey hee yeh josh hai masti ka
Sheshay pay gira sheesha paimane pe paimana

Maloom nahin Bedam mein kon houn aur kiya hoon
Youn apnoon main apna houn baiganoon mein baigana

The delicacy of locking eyes with the Beloved and losing one’s heart to Him combines in this song with a delightful disregard for social convention, represented by the gossiping neighbourhood women! A song of joyous love and surrender, from the Sufi Wali Allah Master Amir Khusrou"Q.S.A" to his spiritual guide, Master Nizamuddin Auliya"Q.S.A" it is sung here in a rousing way by the well-known qawwals Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammed .

This particular rendition by Farid and Abu Sahab which lasts almost 23 minutes was sung in the Bangalore Festival of Kabir in 2009.
Fariduddin Ayaz and Abu Mohammad are acclaimed qawwals from Karachi, Pakistan and belong to the 700-year-old 'Qawwal Bachchon Ka Gharana' of Delhi. Their main guru has been their father, the legendary qawwal Munshi Raziuddin Ahmed Khan.
