Thanks to our Canadian friend David, I now know this is called an 'acrostic' poem. The Rock is the master of nostalgia and has carved out an incredibly unique song writing style well worth your ears and a permanant rabbit hole 🫡✌🏻


Soul Flare

'He'll Drive You Home' Was inspired by Duster.
This is the only song I have made that uses a Cajon and I was really happy with how it turned out. If you don't know what a Cajon is, it's basically a box you sit on and smack. I also then sampled my bass drum from my drum kit aswell throughout.

I made the recording of the guitar unnecessarily difficult on myself playing a chord with 4th fret on the A string and at the same time 9th on the D. I later found out this same chord could be played 4th fret A and 4th fret G. The recording process implimented the uses of a capo to help with this and another difficult chord change as I would end up playing lots of unwanted notes.

A strange but important part of the sound of my guitar is the plectrum. I used a folded up cardboard cornetto lid. I'm not sure why I did it at the time but I can't recreate the sound now perfectly unless I do. The specific lid I used lives in my guitar case now till this day.

The vocals in this song start off clean and slowly become more distorted. This was done by a vocal track being played through a distorted amp plugin slowly increasing in volume.

I recorded my first music video for this song which just featured me playing the song switching between the guitars and bass. I covered my face with a pop filter so I didn't have to pretend to sing.
