My entry for the August 2021 Image-Line forum music competition.

Rules:
Only two samples allowed -- kick and snare. No volume variations.
All other sounds must be made with the Fruity DX10, a 3-op FM synth. No plugins allowed, and no filters.

As a personal rule, I decided to not use any of the DX10 presets, as I figured I'd take the opportunity to learn some FM synthesis. It really is a weird and not-at-all-intuitive process, more akin to riding a dragon than the brainy work involved in something like Harmor. Had a blast, though!

Track number fourteen from my album "Superposition" is 'Waves Of Energy, which is the last track of the album. It is a fast paced tune with singing arpeggios and eager chiptune leads, never wanting to stop. 

My intention was that it somewhat would leave the listener wanting more, and I really think it became the perfect track to end the album with.

ABOUT SUPERPOSITION

S U P E R P O S I T I O N -  is a chiptune album which apart from having heavy influences from game console music (Such as Nintendo, Gameboy and Commodore 64) also has many influences related to our universe. There are crossovers to quantum physics, robotics and chemistry which is a silver thread throughout the album.

"While making the music for Superposition I worked hard on creating dynamic parts and I was aiming for an album that travels from a happy, playful and energetic mood over to a somewhat melancholic feel.

A whole lot of heart went into making this album. Most of the tracks reflect certain moments and occurrences from this past year.

Fun fact 1: The track name 'Ms. Bed Burrito' emerged from what I use to call my wife when she is sleeping (with the sheet around her all curled up looking just like a Burrito).

Fun fact 2: My colleague at work seemed to have a favorite word - 'Douchebag' which he seamlessly shouted out every day. This was the starting point for the 'Douchebag Rumble' chiptune."

Opening

Did this on a whim, I got inspired by the newly revealed OP-Z -- it looks really cool, btw.

Bulk of this is VST2413, with only one instance of Dexed (even then limited to 2op, I needed modwheel).

MOTIONLESS HARDWARE

Brought back an old song for Return to Aloha! The album's coming along at a glacial pace due to a bazillion other things dominating my life at the moment (chiefly things to do with the upcoming novel release!) I hope this song (and this adorable drawing of Capel by Renz!) will bring you some joy in the meantime. 
I think the song sounds very much like a busy place, so I figured "Workzone" would be a pretty good title for it. Also one of the few times I've gotten to do major key in the Capel albums!
