Seiichi Hiraoka was a classical guitarist of Japanese origin. He completed his studies at the Vienna Music Academy and also attended masterclasses with Alirio Diaz and Andres Segovia. From 1972, he performed as a concert guitarist in Vienna both as a solo artist and as part of the ‘Vienna Flute-Guitar Duo’, and he taught at various Viennese music colleges. His compositions are of an astonishing stylistic diversity, reflecting the musical and spiritual motifs of both Western and Oriental music. The composer applied the characteristics of classical music to different musical styles, blending them with the typical rhythms, harmonies and sounds of Spanish (Spanish Sounds), South American (Modern Classical South American), Japanese (Japanese Fusion) and Oriental-Arabic music (Arabic Modern Dance / Arabic Fusion), which accounts for the special charm his compositions exude. In addition, he composed works with a very personal touch and a wide range of atmospheric influences, from mystical to jazzy/rhythmic sounds (Fantasy Fusion / Experimental Flute), drawing on his own Japanese roots.
