I recorded this from the radio around 1996. I was blown away by the music played in this recording, some of it I heard on here for the first time and then hunted the tracks down over the years, for instance the 4 hero remix of DJ Krush’s ‘Meiso’. I wasn’t a regular listener of Midlands Underground (broadcast from Wolverhampton) and I didn’t always have tapes to record the shows either. I think this was the first time I found the station on the airwaves and this was also the first time I heard of Chilly, Rudie B, Splash. This set had an impact on me and was responsible for opening me up to some of the deeper styles of Jungle/DnB. It’s also interesting to listen back to the adverts on the show!

A mix I did for Efa O'Neill's very cool Out of Space series.

About the mix:
I've been listened to lot of very muscular bass music mixes by people like Brutuzz, Pessimist, Ema, and Speedy P lately and I wanted to try put together a mix along those lines that would work at Ar Ais Arís. Its got a lot of different styles, all with a lot of low end. The first half is a bit more hands in the air, and the second half is a bit more heads down (so the wrong way around really) and there's a big weirdo dividing track in the middle (Kahn - Shimmer). Its got a track from the forthcoming AAA compilation which just sounds killer in the mix, a few other forthcoming bits, that Joy O tune.... Cas suas é
