Classical Ambient Winter Mix

Allow us to introduce you to Vela Uniform, the creator of our 31st podcast. This might be the first time you consciously read his name, yet he has been one of the driving forces behind SEKOIA for the last couple of years. As a resident DJ and a constant help on the production side of our events, he is the flag bearer for the darker music we've shared in the past.

His podcast will attest to that. In his own words: "For people interested in how I play DJ-sets in front of a crowd: I would like to invite those people to look around on my social channels, since there's already a lot of my live material floating around. 

The approach of this mix is a bit different. This podcast is my opportunity to tell a musical story. Taking some of the more abstract techno, combining records together and blending them by mixing really slowly and taking my sweet time. When mixing, I blur lines between one record and the next. In this way, the mix is quite a long trip, following waves and - hopefully - sucking you into it deeply.

I didn't limit myself to a 60-minute time limit. I rather chose to let the music and its tides decide when and where it was the time to stop." - C.

Flexing his musical muscles in a collaborative project with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Frieder Nagel, David August presents his musical composition “X Poème Symphonique”

A live performance showcasing a 50 piece classical symphonic orchestra, coupled with the electronic arsenal of the two musicians. A hybrid force, for which both artists have composed a full 50-minute symphony, - a feat arguably done for the first time ever.

David August & Deutsches Symphonie - Orchester Boiler Room Berlin 02/2016

Originating from Sweden, Gidge are a duo who seek inspiration from a somewhat uncompromising environment. Cold, harsh winters leave little room for musical warmth and creativity, yet somehow the pair manage to maintain a depth and meaning to their sound which transcends far beyond their surroundings. 

The pair first met back in school at the age of 16. Rooted in the small city of Umeå Jonatan Nilsson and Ludvig Stolterman quickly became friends through a shared love of the abstract and electronic music. This would later materialise into them producing music together as the duo Gidge. This month saw the release of their second mini album on Atomnation, a record label not known for compromise or a sub standard release policy which has previously hosted music by the likes of Weval, Olaf Stuut and Sau Poler. 

We caught up with the pair on the back of the release of their latest work 'LNLNN' as they deliver a Monday mix for Ransom Note

DJ & producer Dave DK has been making waves in the electronic music scene for a couple of years now. Since the early 90's he was fascinated by the upcoming techno movement, which eventually led to his own active initiation. Became a resident DJ at Tresor/Globus club in Berlin & later on also at the legendary Panorama Bar. 
Dave is an open minded person who resents musical limits, his sound simply is the result of different styles that have influenced him throughout the years, he has release music on labels such as Kompakt Records, Pampa Records & Anjuna Deep.
