In light of our recent announcement regarding our closing, we promised you to keep on posting music as normal. The thing with rounding up and setting everything straight is, although it's sad, it also gives you the possibility to praise those who deserve to be praised. 

Florinsz Janvier is, and has been, one of the driving forces behind SEKOIA and his place in our podcast gallery feels like a natural thing. His devotion and dedication towards the channel has been unprecedented and along with SEKOIA, Florinsz has also grown into his role as a DJ.

SEKOIA’s typical sound originated for a big part from his mind, as our channel and his music collecting urge form a harmonious symbiosis. But not everything that Florinsz finds makes its way on to SEKOIA, and not everything SEKOIA posts is Florinsz's cup of tea (he doesn't drink coffee... go figure).

We're pleased to have him on podcast duties to showcase his personal take on melancholic and deep electronic music. The musical growth that Florinsz went through, and his unique asset of combining ethereal melodies with dance ready grooves is laid out before you in our 39th podcast. He gained interest and impeccable taste in music through the influence of the all too famous HardPop and the ever growing popularity of the electronic music genre.

Herbs are almost as basic in Mexico today as they were in pre-Hispanic days. With today's spiraling cost of manufactured medicines, many Mexicans who live in the cities are now resorting to pre-Columbian remedies still commonly used in the rural areas. Traditionally, the poor seek medical attention from “curanderos”, or natural healers; the middle-class and upper class Mexicans usually see a medical doctor. But when they are desperate, they switch over.

The ancient Mesoamerican peoples developed to a high degree a prehispanic agriculture base don major crop, now widely studied and worldwide distributed. These crops were based on maize, beans, chili peppers, etc. Most of the Mesoamerican culture area is considered an important world center of plant origin and diversity. The three most complete Works on the knowledge and utilization of the flora by the Indians in prehispanic Mexico.

A significant segment of the Mexican population believes that curing with plants is slower but safer and less expensive than using drugs developed in a laboratory, which are often derivatives of the same plants. These homemade cures are especially appreciated for common, everyday ailments because they are known to cause fewer side effects than modern medicines.

If you ask anyone on the playa about DISTRIKT, they immediately smile and say, best day party on the playa! I am proud to be with a kamp of snarky folks who work hard to deliver a full bar 6 days a week and with a music line up that is always on point. I was on the build knew this year and now know a bit more of what it takes to get everything dialed in. A lot of blood, sweat, and middle fingers get this all done. There isn’t room for sensitive Sally’s and that’s why I fit in. I am most grateful for my involvement with DISTRIKT and this year I got to play on my Burnthday, Saturday, September 1st with so many of my awesome friends there with me. The crowd was gathering for my good friend, colleague, and badass DJ Ben Annand and I was ecstatic to follow his flow. I am very happy with this mix and I invite you to enjoy the journey of sounds and moods.

Friends and fam, to celebrate my 41st revolution around the sun, here is my Rotations mix! It's a snapshot of the styles of music I'm really into these days, and I really took pleasure in putting this together. It's also almost exactly 5 years since my first time performing at a club (at F8 in San Francisco, June 2015), so in a sense it's also a bit of a time capsule for me. I hope you enjoy listening and dancing to this set as much as I did making it! I also included my first ever produced track, Kuiper Belt. Originally recorded in early May, but life happens...
