A very special project comes to Colorize - this is 'X' from Matt Fax, a celebration of 10 years of Matt Fax releases!

It has been a decade since the world was graced with the first release from progressive maestro Matt Fax. The Frenchman quickly ascended the ranks of global producer / DJs, establishing himself over the course of ten years as a mainstay in the world of progressive dance music, garnering a worldwide following in the process. In that time he has released two artist albums, a host of impressive singles and remixes, taken the reins on Colorize's 'Colorscapes' compilation and toured the world from Los Angeles to Amsterdam to Tokyo.

'X' is an exceptional project marking a marvellous ten years for Matt Fax that features twenty of his favourite originals and remixes. We see classic releases on labels like Colorize, Anjunabeats, Armada and more, and remixes for renowned acts like Ferry Corsten and Lane 8. It comes to you in the format of two exemplary retrospective DJ mixes that highlight a musician who has indubitably come into his own. Also included are ten of the most sought-after unreleased IDs from Matt Fax's sets over the past decade, all of which were diligently finalized by Matt Fax over the past few months to make this release a spectacular celebration of his work.

It's been a sensational decade for Matt Fax and we can't wait to see what the next one has in store.

Night Owl (Colorscapes Mix)

Closing 2023 with a breathtaking selection of new music, Purified Fragments returns for its seventeenth installment. Featuring three pristine productions, this compilation showcases music from Polish artist Rafa’EL (Soulmotion), Italian producer Birø (løst it all) and Argentine duo Cimmerian & Luciano F (Interconnect).

The Fragments XVII artwork displays a spectacular photograph of a jellyfish by Daniel Nicholson. Ancient inhabitants of the seas, jellyfish fascinate with their ethereal and often mesmerizing presence. These gelatinous organisms, encompassing a wide variety of species, have evolved an array of survival strategies, from venomous tentacles to bioluminescence. Their population dynamics, influenced by factors like warming waters and nutrient-rich habitats, underscore their adaptability to changing environments. Studying jellyfish's ecological roles is crucial as they influence marine food webs and serve as indicators of ocean health. Organizations like the Marine Biological Association contribute to the ongoing scientific exploration of jellyfish, shedding light on their importance in the larger context of marine ecosystems. Lack of comprehensive data makes it challenging to assess the conservation status of most jellyfish species according to the IUCN Red List. 

Located on the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, Daniel Nicholson is one of the globe’s most prominent professional underwater photographers. He seeks to share the beauty and magic of the underwater world to inspire conservation and change.

Tash's Movement Limited rounds out the month of August by welcoming Fractal Architect back to the label for a new EP. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, UK artist Daniel Watts aka Fractal Architect has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of electronic music, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Long standing imprints 3rd Avenue, Cinematique, Manual Music and Stellar Fountain have been landing spots for his far reaching creations. Movement Recordings has also been a vehicle for Fractal Architect, beginning in 2019 with 'Hideaway', a two-track affair which would lead to 2020's 'Not Going Back'. October of last year would see the UK artist make his debut on the label's Limited division with an artist showcase entitled ‘Resurrection'. Now, following his latest vehicle for Cinematique, Fractal Architect returns to Movement Limited with ‘Panopticon'.

The title track leads the release off in grand fashion and only furthers Fractal Architect's journey into the cosmic depths of melodic techno. Punchy kick drums and a bed of wavy rhythms provide the anchor for layers of flickering percussion and shapeshifting arps. Cruising with a hypnotic presence, there's a strong sense of flow across the first act, as metallic melodies steal the air, not only adding depth and character, but an emotive rise leading into a serene break. Here, placid pads and haunting vocal fragments create a sense of calm, eventually giving way to percolating effects for a classy drop and ethereal finale.

Beneath the charming sounds of 'Panopticon' lies the equally impressive 'Tempus Fugit'. Geared more towards morning play, Fractal Architect's pristine production chops serve him well here, bursting with ultrasonic qualities and a keen sense of hope and emotion. In what is a mesmerizing journey for the ages, it's a rollercoaster of crystalline melodic structures and charming overlays which provide a rejuvenating storyboard, while a foundation of precise kick drums and compact grooves not only keeps the focus on the dancefloor, but rounds out the release on a poignant note.

As Perspectives Digital returns for its 67th release, head honcho Darin Epsilon heads an all-star cast alongside the iconic German and US pairing of Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor. 

Darin Epsilon needs no introduction to the underground dance music faithful. An artist at the peak of his powers, his cross-genre appeal has seen him at the vanguard of Progressive House and Melodic Techno with over 350 production credits and two million Soundcloud plays to his name. An array of leading imprints play host to the US producer's work that include Katermukke, Einmusika, Sudbeat, and Renaissance, amongst many others. 

An artist with a permanent seat at dance music's top table, Jerome Isma-Ae is a DJ and producer renowned and revered by fans and peers alike. An accomplished multi-instrumentalist with a music career dating back to the mid 90's, a number 1 US Billboard hit remixing the Nightcrawlers and reworks of Paul Van Dyk, Faithless, and Way Out West, has seen Jerome continually hit the summit of a notoriously fickle industry. Nominated by Beatport as a best-selling artist on multiple occasions, his unique blend of Techno and Progressive House has witnessed almost 1,000 production credits and a string of chart-topping hits.

2015 saw a shift in the German producer's music as a deeper, darker, and more nuanced sound went hand-in-hand with a new collaborative partnership with US producer, Alastor. Combining Jerome's pounding beat and meticulously crafted basslines with Alastor's gift for atmospheric melody and rich chord progressions, the duo have penned a series of high-profile original releases alongside a plethora of remixes for JOOF, Anjunabeats, and Babiczstyle. Moreover, a score of credits can be found on Jerome's own Jee Productions. 

Working their combined magic on "Golden Triangle", Jerome Isma-Ae and Alastor's remix is a typical tour de force that blends Epsilon's percussive melodic themes with a glorious high-energy rhythm and bassline. The central arpeggiated theme of the original then makes an intelligent appearance alongside a host of new production material from the duo. Paying tribute to the essential themes of Epsilon's work while building a new narrative, Isma-ae and Alastor have crafted a new and highly original remix that is another surefire global hit!
