It's hard to believe that it will be exactly two years ago since we launched our beloved label. It really has flown by in the blink of an eye. And so, to mark the occasion of 24 successful months in business, we bring you release number 24. You could call it OCD behaviour but we like to think of it as symmetry ;-)

Step forward Mr Jaap Ligthart, a Dutchman who has been on our radar for some time now with a number of fantastic edits and reworkings but is now making the natural transition into original productions. Together with Ms. Alice Rose, a vocalist who's pass credits include guesting on tracks for the likes of Gabriel Ananda and Eagles & Butterflies, they've created something rather special. 

‘I Know Change’ is a sensuous piece of work. Deep House in the very real sense of the phrase. 
And that is something that our remixers on this project have truly understood. Both Him Self Her and Show-B have delivered exquisite interpretations that give the whole package an overriding sense of class and quality. 

Him Self Her keep things deep and moody with a restrained, atmospheric, sophisticated piece of work, whilst Show-B heads into slightly tougher territory encapsulated by some distinctive rollercoaster percussion effects that have already seen Ame, Dixon, Sasha, Mano Le Tough & Adratique showing their support. And if all that wasn’t enough, they both deliver vocal free dubs too! 

So then, just to recap, it’s hotter than Megan Fox in Agent Provocateur and cooler than a Polar Bear’s toenails. What’s not to like?

Exclusive Pablo Fierro 'Timanfaya'

Cradled with rhythm Canary Island born and currently in Madrid living DJ and producer  Pablo Fierro is a mainstay of the rather percussively influenced music in the electronic music scene. With releases on Innervisions' renowned 'Secret Weapons' compilation the bustling artists has left quite an impression and paved the way for following releases on Suol or RISE. For the latter Pablo remixed Floyd Lavine's track 'Masala', which became an instant summer anthem in 2017. This year Pablo continues his personal rise with his 'Timanfaya EP' on Munich based label Compost. The EP's title track starts Pablo-style, meaning the Madrilenian builds up the track with strong and various percussions preparing the momentum when a Mediterranean influenced synth-melody makes its first appearance and in the following is accompanied by a second one that marks the track's peak. Shortly before the release of Pablo Fierro's EP Torture the Artist had the chance to catch up and speak to the artist about his connection to the 'Timanfaya National Park', his move to Madrid and other topics.

German artist Re.You is Marius Maier, a producer who runs hisownYounionlabelandcontinues to innovate with his edgy house and tech fuelled productions. AswellasonreleasingConnected, he has seenhismusicissuedonMoonHarbour,KompaktandMobileeandmanagestotranscend fashions and scenes with his unique sound. After many years in Berlin, he moved to Paris, and found himself full of new ideas, inspired by the city and its creative energy.

As such, most of this new album was written in the French capital. He was there for just six months but as Marius says ​"it was a truly inspiring place and time, so I thought I would give the

album a French name. 'Maison' means home. That’s what I feel now I'm back in my German hometown Ulm after 10 years of Berlin and a short stay in Paris. I feel now is a good time to release my debut album on Connected, a platform on which I always felt at home."

Things get off to a dramatic start with the lurching bass and broken kicks of 'When I'm Lost' featuring the emotive vocals of Elli. It sets a serious mood that continues on 'We Want To Go',a sparse andexpansivetrackwithfoundsounds,creepingchordsandasenseoflate-nightmenace. 'Relocate' feat.StereoMc’sisanotherbrokenbeatthatcouldcomefromthestreetsofLondonand is complete with spoken word vocals, then 'Freedom' offers a high-speed house cut with cosmic arps and driving claps.

The excellent 'In The Dark' switches up the vibe again, this time with unbalanced bass and crisp percussion taking you deep into the night, while 'Inyani' feat. Oluhle & Aaaron gets you in an afro-tinged trance thanks to the vocal chants and suspensory, spiritual chords that cast a real spell. 'Soft'rollsbeautifullydeepwithdistantbirdsounds,then'IfYou'feat.Ellipicksupwithaslick and slippery tech groove full of mystery and intrigue and the journey is complete with the emotionally stirring trap style house of 'Strings Of Joy' feat. Florian Busse & Ahmad.

Maison is an adventurous culmination of many years of artistic endeavour that brings plenty of fresh and exciting new perspectives to house music.
