Parallelle join forces with Nicolas Masseyeff once again for ‘Renegade’ on Crosstown Rebels, featuring a  remix from Adam Ten & Mita Gami.  

Collaborating previously on DGTL, having known each other for years, Dutch brother duo Parallelle and France’s Nicolas  Masseyeff have created a partnership within the studio that clicks. Parallelle are multi-instrumentalists, composers, producers  and Klassified Records owners with a hybrid sound that mixes up electronica, electro-jazz and underground house, while  Masseyeff is equally accomplished and draws on minimalism, jazz, new wave, Detroit and Chicago when crafting his signature  sound on the likes of Systematic Recordings and Diversions Music. Linking up again, the three talents combine for a first  outing on Crosstown Rebels with ‘Renegade’. 

Thomas of Parallelle says, “We have created a very complementary, fun and fluid creative flow when together in the studio. We  like to keep a renegade mindset and always look for a dirty groove.” And that shows across these latest creations.  

Up first is title track ‘Renegade’, a deep mid-tempo house shuffler. The drums are elegant and airy, with bright chords and a  rasping baseline. It’s a real mood builder with dramatic synth sweeps that brings a sense of class to the dance floor.  

Israeli artists Adam Ten & Mita Gami have been a creative force for the last couple of years, and their ‘High On’ EP on  Crosstown Rebels last year gained huge success, defining a new movement of psychedelic house sounds. Their remix of  ‘Renegade’ offers a slowly unfolding masterclass with moving melodies and modulated synths casting a captivating spell. 

Last of all is ‘Bandidos’, another deep and subtle track infused with rich synth work. The bright lines and deft pads are lithe  and loose over the underlapping drums, encouraging you to gaze in awe as you get lost in the mellifluous groove.

Following two monumental releases on Crosstown Rebels, Serge Devant is back onboard the label to deliver one of his best to date. The immensely sensual Thinking Of You sees him team up once again with Damiano and Camille Safiya with invigorating remixes from heavy-weights Reboot and Art Department.

Serge Devant has been turning heads since the seminal Fearing Love feat. Camille Safiya dropped in 2015 on Emerald City, picking up the Best Music Video award at the 2016 Hollywood Independent Reel Film Festival. Serge reveals “it was so nice to have the same company back in the studio to work on more magic!” Thinking Of You breathes the air of summer with its blissfully smooth chords and deep hypnotic tones it’s another winner from Serge.

Welcomed back onto Crosstown Rebels, No.19 boss Jonny White aka Art Department delivers a raw, techno cut in his Modular Perspective remix. Jonny has seen almost unparalleled success in the world of dance music and continues to be at the forefront of the industry with a huge focus on his record labels and his in-demand label showcases that take the name of his vinyl only label, Social Experiment.

Frankfurt’s Reboot brings his flavour to the release with intricate percussion and deep underlying pads. Growing up in Sven Vath’s Omen Club, the talented musician now spearheads the ‘new sound of Frankfurt’ and has released on a wealth of labels like Circus, Moon Harbour, Cadenza and Get Physical.

And so it came to pass, the third and final instalment in our 5th Birthday EP series yields 4 further collaborations of the highest pedigree and calibre.

Step forward Gorge & Joeski, Guy Mantzur & Lonya, Wally Lopez & Joal and Marc DePulse & Several Definitions who all bring their own inimitable flair and flavour to the party to provide us with yet another awesome foursome. 

Gorge & Joe set the pace on ‘Jogo’ (Eat your heart out Brangelina). With it’s feet firmly planted in Deep Tech terrain it rolls into town, shooting from the hip with the kind of swagger you’d expect from these two experienced gunslingers. 4/4 at 10 paces. 

Next it’s Messrs Mantzur & Lonya, two leading lights of the thriving Tel Aviv electronic music scene pairing up for ‘Dynasty’. Characterised by the elegant piano work of Adam Gorlizki set against an emotional progressive backdrop, its subtlety charms and shines above all else. 

On the other side of the coin, we find Marc DePulse & Jeremy Vieira (aka Several Definitions) calling the shots on ‘Ego Rex’, an altogether different affair with it’s brazen, explosive energy burning brightly in your face. All about the attitude. 

And to wrap things up, calling time on our trio of celebratory EPs (Did we mention it was our birthday?) we present ‘Peninsula’ courtesy of the Spanish/Portuguese combo of Wally Lopez & Joal.  A wonderfully understated piece of work thats seductive powers intensify with every listen. A tune for all seasons. 

So all that remains is to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us commemorate this landmark anniversary. We hereby promise to stop milking it for all it’s worth. Normal service will now be resumed.
