What a beautiful track and beautiful remix of an incredible tribute

In November 2020, much loved Australian DJ Phil K sadly passed away. For some three decades the Melbourne-based leading light had been not only a pivotal player on the Australian scene, but also an internationally respected DJ, producer and technical trailblazer.

In amongst an astonishing (and global) outpouring of love on social media, Seladors Dave Seaman, a close friend since his first trip to Oz in 1993, wrote:
Phil was a shining light to us all. He told it as he saw it, but always with words of inspiration and encouragement. He had time for everyone, generous to a fault and a joy to be around. His enthusiasm, forward-thinking outlook and thirst for knowledge was infectious. He had an uncanny knack of making you feel better about life just by spending time in his company.

Phil & Daves mutual friend and pioneering Greek electronic producer Stelios Vassiloudis was moved to create a stunning new track in Phils memory. Gone to Heaven is a hugely evocative, moving track, 11 minutes + of blissful electronic ambience.
This fitting tribute is scheduled for release on what would have been Phils 52nd birthday, May 6th. Stels full length mix will lead the package, with the producer saying:
Theres no possible way a mere piece of music can do justice to Phils legacy and influence or even come close to expressing how his untimely passing has affected us all. Gone to Heaven was actually inspired by (what was to be) our last meeting in Melbourne on a perfect spring evening: great food followed by drinks and then a long drive around town listening to an impeccable selection of tunes selected by the man himself. A memory Ill treasure forever.

There are, of course, remixes designed to hit the dancefloors that Phil was so adept at rocking. These come firstly and fittingly from Phils long time fellow ambassadors for Australian club culture, Anthony Pappa and Jamie Stevens and secondly, from fellow Greek and another long time friend, John Dalagelis who all excel themselves with their own outstanding tributes.
All proceeds from this release will be donated to two charities close to Phils heart. Quivver has been a constant force in the scene for two decades. He is one of the few that constantly deliver music of the finest quality day in, day out.

Three tracks to drool over here, kicking off with 'Response'. This draws on all of his hallmark sounds. Trippy vocal fx, swaggering percussion, a nasty underlying bassline and stabby synths, and superb melodics, that all culminate in a dance floor gem. Its unmistakable Quivver, and thats why we love it. 

'Call' is a beautiful warmth oozing gem, that sways along full of brightness and feel good vibes, but still with a deeper tinge and plenty of drive. Wait for that synth line... 

And rounding things off, we have the layered gem that is 'What Am I Dreaming?'. Tripped out and dreamy, yet dirty and punchy. This is cool in anybodies book.

Here is a remix I have done for my friend Tomomi Ukomori. This remix is a very naive and cinematic song with both influences from old school 90s trance and lo-fi disco/house. With this I wanted to recreate the strange futuristic feeling you can find in animé films and it is also inspired by my own experiences in Tokyo, one of my favorite places on this planet.

Church is an adventurous artist who has been in the scene since the mid-nineties. He has made everything from melodic soundscapes to industrial techno under a range of aliases and always draws inspiration from his own deep thinking and desire to tell a personal story. His Configurations of Self label has been growing in stature, partly off the back of a series of outstanding EPs from Church and sometime musical partner James Welsh. Serene opener ‘Use of Self’ is a widescreen deep techno cut with bright synths and a nagging vocal sample that fills the track with soul. It is classy and timeless and the lush melodies make it all the more standout. Remixer Jody Barr quickly climbed through the ranks with music on Krankbrother and Nofitstate to then establish his own label Portable Minds, he is also a close member of Sasha’s Last Night on Earth family. His hardware-centric sound is always rugged and real and he shows that with two remixes. The first is of 'Use of Self’, and it becomes a spaced out and experimental track with dreamy broken beats and reflective synth sequences that ride up and down the scale in cosmic fashion.
