Christina Gavrilova, aka Forty Cats, has made a significant impact on the global progressive house scene. She has been making music for 13 years, and DJing for 15. Christina’s first milestone came with the "Highway" debut EP on Lane 8's This Never Happened label in 2019. Two years later, Forty Cats made a dramatic shift in her sound direction. She has since released on progressive house labels like Sudbeat, Mango Alley, Soundgarden, and PlattenBank ,while gaining support from industry legends such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, D-Nox, Lane 8, Dowden, and Above & Beyond. For April 2024, Forty Cats will start her own label – PURRFECTION – and has already collaborated with artists such as KYOTTO, Ricky Ryan, EANP and others. 

Forty Cats tours globally, and has performed in Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Armenia, and Argentina. Christina continues to captivate her audience with new releases, compilations, and DJ sets, maintaining a strong presence in the progressive house and techno scene.

Institution 084: Forty Cats

Just Her is back on Selador and it's another mightily impressive, multifaceted show of skills from an artist at the top of her game. As with much of her more recent output, 'Left Behind' once again finds Claire on vocal as well as production duties, her unmistakable tone and delivery at its most honest and emotive. "It was written from quite a dark place," Claire explains, "But also to serve as a reminder that there is always hope, even in the bleakest of times." The original mix, written without any thought or consideration for the dance floor, is rooted in broken breakbeats, gently simmering synths and melancholic strings, one for those contemplative moments. A work of timeless beauty. But of course, with Selador being Selador, we couldn't let the opportunity of a club mix pass us by.. "When Dave & Steve first heard it, they loved the vocal and felt it was crying out for a club version, so I decided to try a different path", Claire elaborates "And I'm so glad I did because it's a very special song to me which makes me super happy it gets to have a life on the dance floor too!"

Elliot Moriarty has been enamored with dance music from a very young age, gradually transitioning from DJing at local parties to global events like ADE. Undoubtedly, much of his rise can be attributed to his breezy productions on labels like The Soundgarden. Consider the 2023 release "By My Side” (Songuara), which reached number 1 on the Beatport Organic House chart. It's a light and effervescent tune, brimming with optimism. That energy is also bristling in ‘Balance’, a track he produced exclusively for this Balance Selections mix. And with the troubling times we find ourselves in, his unabashed cheerfulness is a breath of fresh air. Featuring tracks from the likes of Guy J and Juan Deminicis, this is a deep yet sanguine selection that hooks you in from the start.

Drawing inspiration from anything between shamanic ceremonies, mountain treks and gardening, his DJ sets tend to be pan-spectral, transcending genre and style.
