Selecta Matata is one of the most enterprising projects linked to Jamaican culture in Portugal, working as a Producer and DJ Selecta.
It was one of the founders of the first and pioneer association of Reggae, the APR-Portuguese Association of Reggae (May 2008), was part of the collective Big Badda Boom Sound and was also the first and only "Operator" Portuguese.
Selecta Matata born in October 2006, from a fusion of influences from different genres, with special focus on Jamaican music, with which they most identify. Impelled by the desire to materialize their knowledge, have moved in ways that involve the use of 45-rpm discs, so taking advantage of privileged access to the latest Reggae, since it only worked in the shop Reggae Portugal, Embassy Sound in the Bairro Alto, in the heart of Lisbon.
Having to choose from a vast range of singles, from which date back to the 60s to the most recent Matata can well cope with the demands of the massive following the performances.
In addition to performances in Madrid, Spain (Cries and Sala Blazing Fire), and also in the Italian cities of Milan (Reggaemillia) and Osoppo (Rototom Sunsplash), Matata has also acted alongside renowned sound system of international renown, such as "Supersonic "Kingstone" "Soundquake", "Pow Pow Movement," "Irie Crew," "Kiki Sound" Sound Pot Of Gold ", in addition to promoting various Sound Systems Reggae in Portugal. Matata also notes outstanding performances alongside international artists such as Bunji Garlin, Collie Buddz, General Levy, Lukie D, Max Romeo, Mikeylous, Ras Mc Bean, Takana Zion and Ziggi.
In order to streamline the Reggae Portugal, Matata Selecta Reggae various stakeholders met in Portugal and with them founded the APR - Associação Portuguesa de Reggae. In September 2008, organized the 1st Meeting of Reggae in social areas in Portugal, "United Reggae", which is repeated in the following years, motivated by the positive impact that has had the positive reviews he had received.
He was also tied to the organization of the 1st Soundclash Portuguese, the "No Mercy Sound Clash," which is repeated in December 2008, because of the success of the first edition.
In 2008 comes the opportunity to participate in a weekly radio frequency RUM - Minho University Radio, which already has more than 20 editions.
Through its website and the collective Big Badda Boom Sound, Selecta Matata has excellent ways to develop and promote their work, continuing to innovate and meet the increasingly demanding lovers of Jamaican music.
