Thompson Sound & Dubquake Records team up to offer modernised O.B.F versions of iconic roots and rubadub tracks from the last century. First released on the Jamaican singer and producer Linval Thompson's label, these tracks from the 70s and 80s have been reworked by Rico O.B.F himself. Each upcoming 12” will include a version with the original vocal, a dub version and a dub- poetry version by Nazamba.

After the release of "Curfew", here comes the second EP of this collaborative series: a fresh version of "Sensimelea" by the great Barrington Levy! A true anthem recorded in the early 80's at the legendary Channel One studios, first released on seminal album "Poorman Style" by a talented young Barrington Levy, then promised to a great career.

On "The Herbs" Rico O.B.F's late musical accomplice Nazamba rides along Barrington's vocals, adding his heartfelt verses. An ode to the cannabis flower and its therapeutic virtues, the “Sweet Sensimilia”.

Thompson Sound & Dubquake Records s’associent pour proposer des versions modernisées façon O.B.F de plusieurs tracks emblématiques sorties au siècle dernier sur le label du chanteur et producteur Jamaïcain Linval Thompson ; des tunes roots et rubadub issues des 70s et des 80s retravaillées à partir des pistes originales par Rico O.B.F lui-même. Sur chaque 12 inch les labels présentent une version avec le vocal original, une version dub et une version dub-poetry de Nazamba.

Après la sortie de « Curfew », voici donc le second maxi de cette série collaborative : une toute fraîche version du « Sensimelea » du grand Barrington Levy ! Sur « The Herbs », le dub poet Nazamba, regretté complice de Rico O.B.F, relance le vocal de Barrington en ajoutant de nouveaux couplets bien sentis à cette ode à la fleur de cannabis et à ses vertus thérapeutiques. Thompson Sound & Dubquake Records font s’entrechoquer un acapella enregistré en Jamaïque il y a 50 ans avec un riddim retravaillé tout récemment au Dubquake Studio et le vocal d’un dub poet de renom enregistré il y a peu à Tuff Gong. Voici donc un grand classique remis au goût du jour avec les grands moyens et la plus grande des attentions !

We have teamed up again with an upcoming talent, this time with Bony Fly. A young producer from Geneva, Switzerland, that remixes our first 7” inch vinyl release Subactive feat Mikey Murka - Blam Blam. 

Bony Fly is a guitarist, pianist and producer; he records bands and produces his music in the Wiki Estudio.

Bony Fly’s productions are made in a combination of vintage gear and modern mixing techniques, using a computer and an analog mixing board with some outboard sound effects. Usually designed to be played on large sound systems, his productions are characterized by heavy bass lines, kicks, snares, and sometimes-subtle piano chords. They draw their inspiration from 80’s digital reggae to bass music, right through jazz, house, early techno and hip hop. However, Bony Fly's main inspirations are Thelonious Monk, A Tribe Called Quest and King Jammy's.

He has released his first record on a label he launched with a good friend NS Kroo in 2015: Sparring Partners.

Mikey Murka is no longer singing so it’s really a pleasure to re work this vocal and do a free download release. 

This release features a vocal version, the riddim and a dub cut, full of vibes or your ears and sound systems.
