Crashing into the new year with a disgusting WALLOP is a name many people are talking about right now – Sota. From being voted as one of the best newcomers in Drum&BassArena’s 2021 awards, to laying down scenes at every event he performs at (especially Onyx X Goat Shed’s recent outing in Bristol), there’s a lot to admire about the strides this 23-year-old is taking right now.

It’s about time we got him on an Onyx release! Introducing Sota’s debut EP on the label, Whiplash. Stacked with wubs, subs and the relentless energy Sota is rapidly becoming renowned for, it’s an EP guaranteed to cause carnage. You only have to look at the recent success of Sota’s “Flappers” collab with Turno to get a glimpse of what’s to come from this exciting talent.

Hailing from Sao Paulo, Acuna is a producer who’s currently causing some very large waves in club-land, with his gritty Drum & Bass tracks rearing their head in more and more sets as time goes on. We’re proud to announce the release of his third four track EP with us here on Chronic, entitled ‘Roll The Streets’.

The project features A Little Sound, Speaker Louis and Fatman D, and also a VIP mix of a track from one of his previous Chronic EPs. They’re all bursting at the seam with the signature Acuna sound, rough, rugged, and ready for the dance floor.

It may be a new year, but we’re kicking things off in the same fashion we ended 2022 – showcasing wicked new talents who are destined to light the scene up. Introducing Klimate to Born On Road, a young producer with a knack for making heavy basslines – the same ones you will have heard us dropping throughout 2022. We’re gassed to have him debuting on the label with his Rave Ting EP.

If you’re not familiar with Klimate, then these four tunes will give you a good sense of where the Surrey-born producer Is heading. From the naughty switches of “Rinseout” to the slick energy of the title track, Rave Ting is an EP encapsulating Born On Road’s love for productions that bring the heat in the rave.

Festival season is well and truly in full swing, so it’s only right to keep serving you bass shellers capable of lighting up any crowd. Our next release will do exactly that. Welcoming Rendah & Jakar to the label with something downright naughty. Two young, versatile artists who know how to create a hit (just look at Jakar’s bootleg of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Deja Vu”), we couldn’t be more excited to bring them into the Born On Road fold with “Get Lonely”. This one’s coming in like a missile. But what did you expect? They are from Bristol after all…

The start of a new year inevitably brings many resolutions for change that are short lived. Well, we’re not about that at Born On Road. We’re going to start this year the same way we ended 2023 – with a fresh bassline to ignite the January dance. Our first release of the year comes courtesy of from Phibes – a duo we’ve been closely intertwined with over the years. “Man Come Back” is their new single, and it’s a bit of a whopper. The last time Phibes released on Born On Road was their “Just For Tonight” single back in 2022, so to see the boys back on the label with new music is pretty special. Happy New Year!

The Born On Road family grow stronger and stronger by the day and Selecta J-Man is integral to the development of their sound. BoR HQ is a busy hub of producers and DJs pushing to further the modern Drum & Bass Jungle sound and J-Man ties this all together with his team: Aries, Kelvin 373, Gold Dubs and Stivs.

When Drum & Bass met Reggae it spawned a whole new field of interest for the new school of producers who were addicted to taking foundation Reggae music and marrying it with rolling Drum & Bass. It’s un-pretentious approach to reinventing the ideals of Reggae into something that the UK ravers could hold as theirs has shown once again that Drum & Bass will never die and Selecta J-Man is one of these producers who is working with the Reggae greats.


Never one to boast, Selecta J-Man has engineered studio sessions with Protoje, Solo Banton, Deadly Hunta, London Posse, YT, Charlie P, Junior Dangerous, Eva Lazarus and Gardna amongst a wealth of others so his dubplate collection is unrivalled in the scene. It was this recording flare that has allowed him and his label Born On Road to take the Glastonbury Sound Clash crown in 2017 from the jaws of the renowned Shadow Demon Coalition.


It’s fair to say that Selecta J-Man has been welcomed into the scene with open arms by a wealth of established artists, perhaps most importantly good friend Aries who has kept a steady workload throughout his career and was instrumental in bringing J-Man’s sound up to par and introducing him around the world of Junglists.


Selecta J-Man’s releases have centred around Born On Road with the common championed theme of Reggae and Drum & Bass - Cease and Sekkle EP being his biggest release to date - but we don’t forget his first releases on Run Tingz Recordings and also his remix duties for Boom Sound and Chopstick Dubplate.


With his consistently bright attitude to making great tunes that punch hard and his commanding presence behind a set of decks, Selecta J-Man is a Drum & Bass Junglist who is here to stay.
