“Modern Life Is War” is the debut single from upcoming Jersey band Select All Delete Save As. The band started when duo Antony Walker and Terry Emm met at University and started recording experimental rock music in their halls. A series of EPs were produced and distributed about the campus, becoming legendary for their spontaneity and odd subject matter.  As a culmination of these recordings and their time at University the band released their almost self-titled debut album ‘Selectalldeletesaveas’ in 2011.

‘Modern Life is War’ is their debut single and will appear on their second album ‘Ultra Cultura’ due out April 2014. The band’s sound has developed significantly since their Uni days and their debut album, with the addition of Rachael McVay adding an emotionally charged female vocal and mixing and percussion maestro Jono McMillan fine tuning their palette of instrumentation.

”Modern Life Is War is a song about desperation.” Says Emm. ”It is very hard to live a life these days without participating in a social system which too frequently exploits and degrades the individual”, he explains when discussing the track, which has a haunting post-rock feel, with a swelling, rising and falling hooky guitar motif at it’s core.

Continuing on the theme of the track, Walker says “We are the only species on the planet which has to pay for its own existence. Life can feel like war sometimes, an endless battle to keep afloat and this is a song that defiantly celebrates the futility of so called 'Modern Life’ ”. 

The single is an exciting calling card of a band that have developed themselves naturally and organically over time and are creating new music echoing an array of quality influences from Modest Mouse and At The Drive In to Sonic Youth. Their music comes from a background of collaborative experience and has grown through into something uniquely engaging and rightfully their own.

Select All Delete Save As sweep through an acre of banging beats; gliding distorted and delayed guitars above in a swirling pulse; like a Vulture, actually.    

The inspiration for Select All's fourth single from their Album of the same name, Ultra Cultura, comes from a "Profound Moment In Jersey" explains Terry (Guitarist,Co-Song writer.)  "I wasn't awake, but I pretended I was, 
I mean that on both a Literal and Figurative level, i mean, I only sang the first two or three lines, and the next think i knew i was on a plane back to the UK"

“Archetypal Woman” is the second single to be taken from Select All Delete Save As’ critically acclaimed sophomore album ‘Ultra Cultura’ (out now on SADSA Records) and follows the single ‘Modern Life Is War’ which received glowing reviews across the blogosphere and airplay from Steve Lamacq on 6 Music and Charlie Ashcroft on Amazing Radio. 

Stepping up the pace more than their previous single, “Archetypal Woman” shows the band in adrenaline rushing surfer sun-pop-punk mode. The track is an ironic Carl Jung influenced ‘archetypal’ love story thrown around on a sea of fast surfer-sun vibe guitars and bending solos.  The track sums up these two guys from Jersey in the Channel Islands big influences from American rock music and their ideals of living in a  stereotypical sunshine filled ‘American dream’ world. The track is a rollercoaster truck ride through ideals of doing it ‘my way on the highway’ and ‘beauty queens’ in singer Antony Walker’s almost Elvis style crooning. “'I love everything about America' reveals Walker, 'Archetypal Woman totally celebrates the whole culture in the extreme, I mean I love the desert, the freedom the heat and barstool barmaids. I love it all”.

Uplifting from the first bar, the new single from Select All Delete Save As, Nectar of Instruction, is a jaunty eccentric pop-rock song which just makes you feel good.

The catchy “It’s Okay” refrain in the chorus finds the duo of Antony Walker and Terry Emm in full 'Select All' mode, at their song writing best.  The deadpan verses whilst unusual somehow work their magic and go further to coin this band's signature sound.

Tackling the subject of religion is difficult at the best of times but there's something juvinilely fun yet profound in this tale of a distastrous experience with religious authority. The message: "Once in a while, its okay"... 

The double A side, Ultra Cultura, as played by Steve Lamacq and also from the album of the same name, demonstrates the duo’s versatility with its spiralling epic electro-rock sound. Can two songs by one band be so different? Guesting on Ultra Cultura is vocalist Rachel McVay.  Her strong vocal takes the track to a more refined level.
